Ben, thanks for doing this conversation. We're all so much better off. (FWIW for others, I am generally hostile to interviews and podcasts and prefer to read transcripts. Don't do that here, folks. And don't just listen. Sit down and watch.) youtube.com/watch?v=V8MO-i3C… @bensasse

Decline is a choice
Not long ago, UFC was banned in 36 states & kept off pay-per-view while porn aired freely. Now it's at the White House. A strange pick to kick off America's 250th. But it's the perfect mirror for *this* moment in history, when outsiders have become the establishment. My latest:

Every employer should ask if they would ever embarrass their employer the way they embarrassed their university like this. And that includes those who already have offers. Just ask.

"a long and beautiful peace"
This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran. Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process. We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace β€” Let’s not blow it! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Check out the replies to see the continued lunacy of the cowardly anonymous accounts that Paxton deployed in the primary. (Well, there are also a lot of machine-run bots.)

Keep it up, clowns.
TX Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick tells state GOP delegates that there are 2 Republicans who lost primaries who are "sore losers undermining our party." Later on, after someone yells out Cornyn's name, Patrick indicates he was referring to Cornyn, saying Cornyn "isn't helping right now."

We all lost something when the Red Sox and Cubs won, and this is the same sadness. What’s next? The Bills winning the Super Bowl? Not good for America.

The way our San Antonio Spurs and their fans have been treated in New York City has been disgraceful. I realize it’s a small slice of the New York fan base that’s responsible but goddamn.

Literally can’t watch Seinfeld anymore, once one of my fave shows. This man is a disgusting and proud racist who doesn’t support the genocide of a people but doesn’t even recognize their existence. He should be shunned from polite society, but, y’know, the β€˜Palestine exception’.

Article has zero substantiation of any sort of management problem beyond clerks being treated the same way young associates are treated in BigLaw. Guess what? Senior partners and judges can be demanding! That's "tense" if you're too snowflakey.
New: Judge Sarah Merriam of the 2nd Circuit has for the second time since 2023 has agreed to take steps to improve the workplace climate of her chambers after her law clerks raised concerns about the "tense and challenging" atmosphere she fostered. reuters.com/legal/government…

Mike, I am a co-sponsor and have repeatedly voted for this but you don’t have the votes. @LeaderJohnThune can’t change that. It is math. Try focusing on Democrats instead of Republicans. Republican on Republican attacks are hurting our chances to win the majority in November.
We will *not* regret putting in the hard work to pass the SAVE America Actβ€”even though it will take weeks, requiring hard work. We will regret *not* passing it. Are the long weekends and recesses really worth losing our country? Of course not. @LeaderJohnThune, let’s do this!

No, you are correct. But he wouldn't just hand a cudgel to his political opponents. He would do the "hard work" and get the votes! That is how you pass legislation; not by creating unrealistic expectations; not by criticizing your own party leaders; not by creating a circular firing squad. That helps Democrats.
Can you imagine LBJ saying β€œwell, we just don’t have enough votes, so let’s forget about it”??

The Senate is a continuing body. The House is not.
In 1834, the Senate censured Andrew Jackson. In 1837, a later Senate "expunged" the resolution. Below is a passage from a pro-Jackson (today it'd be MAGA) newspaper after the expunging took place.
