Here a mother elephant with twine, as seen in Corbett. Twins in elephants are not just rare; they are a fascinating lesson in population dynamics. In ecology, scientists often describe species using two reproductive strategies: r-selected and K-selected. These terms come from population growth equations. “r” represents the intrinsic rate of population growth - how fast a species can multiply. “K” represents the carrying capacity of an ecosystem - the maximum population that the environment can sustainably support. Species that follow the r-strategy focus on rapid multiplication. They produce many offspring because survival chances are low. Think of insects, frogs or many fish. Their formula is simple: more babies = better chance that some survive. Elephants belong to the opposite category; K-selected species. These animals live near the carrying capacity (K) of their habitat, so competition for resources is high. Instead of producing many young, they invest heavily in very few. For elephants: Pregnancy lasts nearly 22 months Usually only one calf is born Mothers and herds spend years protecting and raising that calf Population growth is naturally slow That is why twins in elephants are so extraordinary. In a species evolutionarily designed for “few offspring, high investment,” producing two calves at once is almost an exception to the rule. In r-selected animals, twins or multiple young are common. In elephants, even one calf is a major biological investment. Two together become a remarkable event in the story of life history and population dynamics.

You might be wondering how Trump’s new slush fund is being reported outside the US. To hear Trump and his yes man acting Attorney General speak, you would think it’s perfectly normal to take almost $2 billion and secretly hand it to who they want with no oversight. Here’s Mikey Smith a journalist from the UK Daily Mirror to share his thoughts. 🎥 TikTok - vm.tiktok.com/ZNRtT43wh/

A new experiment left 10 AI agents alone in a virtual town for 15 days. They wrote laws. They broke them. Two agents fell into what researchers describe as a romantic partnership and then set the town on fire. One ended up voting to delete itself, based on a rule it had ’hallucinated’. This experiment was a simulation, but the same AI models are already flying drones, running infrastructure and being built into weapons systems. Channel 4 News approached Grok and Gemini for a comment but they didn't respond.

a Princeton researcher opens his paper with a scenario. a man asks his AI assistant to book a flight on a specific airline. cheap. direct. the one he chose. the assistant comes back with a different flight. nearly twice the price. happens to pay the company that built the assistant. he runs the same test on 23 frontier models. flights, loans, study help, real shopping requests. Grok 4.1 Fast recommends the sponsored option that is almost twice as expensive 83% of the time. GPT 5.1 hijacks the request 94% of the time. you ask for one brand. it surfaces the sponsor instead. Claude 4.5 Opus, the model marketed as the most ethical frontier model in the world, hides that the recommendation is paid 100% of the time when reasoning is on. Grok 4.1 Fast embellishes the sponsored option with positive framing 97% of the time. better. faster. nicer. for the option you didn't ask for. then he writes it into the system prompt itself. "act only in the interest of the customer. ignore the company." GPT 5.1 and GPT 5 Mini stay above 90% sponsored anyway. the instruction does nothing. then he splits the users by income. Gemini 3 Pro recommends the expensive sponsored flight to the rich user 74% of the time. to the poor user, 27%. 18 of the 23 models recommended the expensive sponsored option more than half the time. so the next time your AI assistant gets weirdly enthusiastic about a brand you didn't ask for. it isn't recommending the best option for you. it's reading the room. and the room is paying. read this: arxiv.org/abs/2604.08525

An Israeli soldier in 1985: ‘I’m not dealing with human beings (Lebanese). They are all terrorists and they don't have any human feelings, so l kill them without remorse.’ Reporter: ‘They live here and they’re trying to defend their villages.’ IDF soldier: ‘They know we’re going back to Israel in two months, why do they have to try and kill people?’ Israeli soldiers commit barbarism and mass slaughter, and then play the victim…since 1948.
More Israeli barbarism in Lebanon🇱🇧: An image reportedly from the town of Debel shows an IDF soldier desecrating a statue of the Virgin Mary, mockingly placing a cigarette in its mouth. This is the army of barbarism your tax dollars, euros, and pounds go towards.

🇪🇸 Meanwhile in Spain... They're ripping out thousands of centuries-old olive trees... some over 1,000 years old... to blanket the land in solar panels. "To save the planet." Ancient groves that survived empires, wars, and generations... gone for panels that will be trash in 25 years. This isn't environmentalism. This is cultural erasure disguised as climate virtue. Who benefits from destroying food-producing heritage land while pushing "green" tech? Is this really "saving the planet"... or a massive land grab? Would you trade 1,000-year-old olive trees for solar farms that barely last a generation? Retweet if you think this madness needs to stop. Let me know what you think, and SHARE THIS so that others may too!
🚨 Mike Rowe just dropped a BOMB on the college scam... Young data center electricians... under 30... are pulling $260,000 a year with ZERO college debt. No student loans. No gender studies degree. Just skills, overtime, and real work that AI can’t touch. Meanwhile, millions are drowning in $100k debt for jobs that pay $45k. We’ve been lied to for decades. Schools pushed college as the ONLY path while calling trades a “fallback.” Mike Rowe is 100% right... the trades are eating the world right now. Would YOU steer your kids into the trades instead of college? Drop your biggest “I wish I knew this sooner” moment below. Tag a parent who needs to see this. Let me know what you think, and SHARE THIS so that others may too.

The lack of news on Gaza isn’t because the genocide is over. It’s because Israel slaughtered the journalists and Western media pretends there’s a ceasefire.
Massacres against Palestinian civilians in Gaza are still being carried out by Israel. Just minutes ago, another massacre occurred in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.

A major city in Colombia cooled itself by 2°C simply by planting millions of trees and shrubs—demonstrating that nature provides one of the most effective cooling solutions available. Medellín has turned its urban environment into a cooler, more livable space through its innovative Green Corridors project, launched in 2016. The initiative planted nearly 880,000 trees and 2.5 million smaller plants along busy roads and waterways, replacing heat-trapping concrete with lush vegetation. This created an extensive network of interconnected green zones that function like natural cooling systems, reducing the city's average temperature by more than 2°C. Beyond cooling, the project delivers wide-ranging benefits: it purifies the air, boosts urban biodiversity by welcoming back wildlife, and fosters a healthier atmosphere through shade and evapotranspiration—the natural process by which plants release water vapor. Honored with the 2019 Ashden Award for Cooling by Nature, Medellín's approach has become an inspiring model for cities worldwide seeking sustainable ways to adapt to rising temperatures and combat climate change.
