Few cities have built greenways as quickly or as comprehensively as Shenzhen. Launched as part of the broader Pearl River Delta ecological initiative in 2010, their network now stretches more than 2,300 km, organised into a hierarchy of regional, urban and neighbourhood routes.🧵

Sad news for #retail and Queen West. Steve's Music was legendary for its singular pursuit of selling some of the best equipment in music. Authenticity? You bet! Every staff member knew their stuff and they reflected the music scene back to the consumer.

So much signage cluttering up the views along our #retail avenues. If you park illegally, towing is a risk you've accepted. #TOpoli

Council votes to adopt a bunch of items on consent, including the item about testing out new parking signage. Expect to see signs like these posted this spring as part of an 18-month test phase. secure.toronto.ca/council/ag…

A city spent $11.5 million on a streetscape project. Within 4 years, they generated $273 million in economic output. 🤯 Downtown smiles are increasing at an exponential scale. 😁

Great advice for #Retail operators and all who lead sales teams. Listen to you people to be sure that they are representing products and services with in the context of what the customer is saying.
"That person isn't even a real expert—how are they growing faster than me?" I hear this complaint often from smart folks as they watch less qualified people build their audience faster Here's the uncomfortable truth: The newbs are winning BECAUSE their expertise is limited 👇

Too soon! Each #retail 'season' should have an official launch day. It is the only way to truly use YoY data to track performance. Right??

The ongoing good news of the #Congestionpricing program in NYC is that transit ridership, foot traffic are Up along #Retail avenues. What are roads for if not for adding to the lives of people living on, near them or working there?

#Retail runs on People. Interesting perspectives on patterns of productivity. Challenge in Retailing where running shifts geared to tasks (receiving, merchandising, #customerexperience) fall at specific times of the day. Aligning tasks to people/energy.
Our brains don’t run at full speed all day long—they follow a daily rhythm: Peak, Trough, Recovery. Larks (15% of us) and the middle majority (two-thirds) experience peak focus in the morning, a midday dip, and a late-afternoon boost. Owls (20%) peak later in the day, following a recovery-trough-peak cycle. Your optimal schedule isn't about copying someone else's rhythm - it's about matching your tasks to your chronotype's natural peaks.

Once more for folks in the back!! #Retail sales lift where #bikelanes have been installed. This is a stated goal of the gov't - to support small/ local business. Great idea, so please follow evidence and deliver on that promise. #topoli #bikesmeanbusiness

Great initiative from @DowntownYonge ! This is the type of messaging delivered via National #Retail for some time. Nice to see steps to #SkillUp independent shops.

#YoY #salestrend is what matters to most in #Retail. Categories have their own peaks: Toys? - December Bikes? - April Gardening? - May MoM would show disappointing 'declines' following these peaks and yet none would be alarming to the retailers involved.
🛍️ U.S. Retail Sales Surprise in August 2024! 🛍️ Here’s the breakdown: • Retail Sales (MoM): 0.1% vs. -0.2% expected, showing strong consumer resilience 💪 • Core Retail Sales (MoM): 0.1%, just shy of forecasts but still growing 📊 • Retail Control Group (MoM): 0.3%, matching estimates and a key GDP driver 🚀 Implications: Despite high interest rates, U.S. consumers are still spending, signaling potential for a more dovish Fed stance 👀 How do you see this affecting the Fed’s next move? 🤔 #RetailSales #Economy #Investing #Fed
