We will never understand why the local government in Los Angeles didn't fully take advantage of the unlimited funds from the federal government to provide hotel rooms to our unhoused neighbors the past 2 years. Like dang, we missed that opportunity big time.

The sheriff has encouraged deputies to get vaccinated but refused to enforce the mandate, saying they should have a choice.
54% of his employees are fully vaccinated, compared to 90% for almost every other department, according to the county.

Let that sink in. We pay them more in benefits, alone, than the median LA *household* makes in TOTAL PAY.

More specifically, UMAW demands are: Pay us at least one cent per stream. Adopt a user-centric payment model. Make all closed-door contracts public. Reveal existing payola, then end it altogether. Credit all labor in recordings. End legal battles intended to impoverish artists.

Today in the U.S., corporations will steal $137 million in wages, rich people will steal $2.75 billion in taxes, and 1,300 people will die from poverty, air pollution, and medical error. Think about who benefits from the news ignoring this and focusing on low-level crime instead.
