Yesterday marked the 7th anniversary of Professor passing away in 2019. He had spent many years on the streets of West Philly before he was captured and surrendered with multiple infections. I met him at PAWS in Old City in April 2018. I originally went in wanting to adopt a cat named Smolski, but he had already been adopted. Instead, I instantly fell in love with Professor (who the shelter had named Willowby). Volunteers warned me that Professor would need a lot of medical treatment. When he arrived at PAWS, he was "covered in pee" and smelled pretty bad. I took him home and tried dry shampoo, which he absolutely hated. I also took him to the vet to treat his infections. He was barely able to walk, but within a week or so, he was chasing toys and playing with Groggie, my resident cat. He was one of the friendliest, goofiest cats I've ever met. He was so sweet, sleeping next to me every night, making "quack" sounds instead of meows, and headbutting everyone he encountered. He would even roll over for belly rubs with his tongue sticking out. I know he is resting in peace, and I am so grateful for all the wonderful memories we shared.

I have been without the power since 4:30 PM and a thunderstorm is coming. It will be hot as hell tomorrow. What could go wrong 😑

All I can do is hope no protesters get hurt, and that they achieve what they want. I know this will be a long battle. I live in Philadelphia, and this is not a safe city, but I live in a relatively safe neighborhood and in a gated apartment building. The worst thing that could happen here is maybe my cat vomiting at 2:00 AM. If I take public transit or walk outside, I may get mugged, stabbed, or shot but nothing like that has happened to me in the last 8 years or so of living here (yet). I'm an introvert, and I'm not usually out and/or around many people, especially after dark, so this has been keeping me somewhat safe. So, it feels a bit cheap for me to wish someone safety when they are on the battlefield. I'm not risking anything over here. But I am rooting for the Irish/British.

Soft on crime policies actually increase racism, xenophobia, anti-immigration sentiment, and other things that 'progressives' claim to worry about. Nobody wants 'diversity' if they associate it with potentially getting stabbed, robbed, or raped.
