President Zelenskyy presented state awards to Ukrainian and foreign media professionals on the occasion of Journalist’s Day.
The Order of Merit, III class, was awarded to: Nataliya Gumenyuk @ngumenyuk, Natalia Husak, Kostiantyn Doroshenko, Igor Kazanzhy, Andrew Kravchenko @kravchenkofoto, Oleksandr Nazarenko, Robert Opalenik, Pavlo Pavlov, Andriy Pochtiev, Liubov Rudia, Yegor Terletskyi, Sergiy Tomilenko @Stommedia, and Oleksandr Khimich.
The Order of Princess Olga, II class, was awarded to Yuliia Kyriienko-Merinova.

Whenever I spoke out against spanking prior to having kids, people would say "you'll be singing a different tune after you have kids!"
Now that I've had three kids without budging on spanking, people tell me it must be pure luck that my kids do as I ask without threats of physical assault.
As though the behavior of my children is totally divorced from my parenting and the behavior of their children is totally divorced from their (lack of) parenting.
What do you do when your kids misbehave and defy your commands? Or are you one of the few who has unusually compliant children?

In 2023, Russia took her husband—Yevgeny Yakovlev, call sign “Ryzhyi.”
He was a cook, but after the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to defend his children and his country. He was killed in the Luhansk region while carrying out a combat mission.
Their mother was left with two daughters.
Lyubava, 12, attended Kyiv Lyceum No. 323.
Vira, 17, attended the College of Arts and Design.
On May 14, 2026, a rocket struck a high-rise building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.
Lyubava and Vira lived in that building.
Russia killed them too.
First—their father.
Then—their daughters.
May Lyubava, Vira, and Yevgeny rest in peace.
May their mother find the strength to endure what no one should ever have to endure.

Then the gunfire came.
Oleksandr Matsievskyi was born on May 10, 1980, in Chișinău, Moldova. He lived there for 28 years before moving to Nizhyn, a quiet city in Ukraine's Chernihiv region. He worked an ordinary job. He was a husband to his wife, a son to his mother Paraska, a father to his boy Mykhailo. Nothing about him suggested he would become a name the world would remember.
