Firefighters this afternoon battled a house fire in Shirley on Probst Dr. Brookhaven FD was called to the scene at about 1:15 PM and requested assistance from other depts. Several Cats were removed from the home by firefighters and treated by EMS. #housefire #BreakingNews

At about 2 PM Police responded to a home in Mastic for Reports of a Subject barricaded with a gun inside. Emergency Service Section officers were called in to the scene. From @SCPDHq . At about 4 PM they were still on scene. #BreakingNews #news12LI #emergencyscene #CFPA

National Weather Service confirms the damage we covered in shirley yesterday was from an EF1 Tornado.

We were on scene a little bit ago after the storm came through at this partial collapse at a strip mall in Shirley NY. Heavy structural damage as well as some cars hit by debris.
Prior to this there was a tornado warning.

Last night despite the efforts of @USCG_Tri_State members who launched a response boat to Smith Point Park and @SCPDHq along with multiple FD & EMS agencies a distressed swimmer who was pulled from the water and put on a @USCG boat perished.
