By a final vote of 41-35, the New Jersey state Assembly approved a bill doubling the real estate transfer fee, or "mansion tax," on the sale of homes in New Jersey worth more than $2 million to 2%.
Additionally, the tax rate on homes sold for over $2.5-$3.5 million, will increase to 2.5% and triple to 3% for homes sold for over $3 million.
Other changes include shifting the tax from the buyer to the seller.
