Going to the pvt sector is s very recent thing. I said what I said in 2019 and thereafter.
HAL’s failures in timely deliveries of LCA Mk1 and 1A led to it being kept out of AMCA. I wanted pvt sector in it regardless.
As things stand, the timeline of Mk2 and AMCA is parallel. We don’t have money to spread around, esp with the looming Rafale purchase. It will become worse if Russia succeeds in selling Su-57 to India.
Learnings from AMCA should get us ready for a 6th Gen fighter, sooner rather than later. Or else even that will go the import route.
LCA Mk2 – At the prototyping phase, with the first prototype coupled and lead by HAL.
AMCA – Will be developed by a consortium (non-HAL).
How does scrapping one positively impact the other (timelines, etc.)? My brain isn’t braining.
If someone called you that it was not a good thing, they should just call you a bad student of defence aviation.
