CAMERON MURRAY
2RF - $548.9k
After only playing 1 game last year, and scoring 20 in a 30 minute stint, Murray enters the 2026 season with a discounted price on his 2024 production. As a result, a recent post shared by the offical SuperCoach page shared that Murray was featured in around 50% of drafts. However, I wonder how much of that comes down to the hype around what his discount *could’ve* been before the prices were released.
His price tag of 550k equates to around a 56 point average, down from a season average of 62 in 2024. This isn’t a very favourable discount at all on the surface, and he also averaged this mark the year prior. A shift in his role encouraged less responsibility with ball in hand, resulting in a bump in his tackle count. He also had a decline in attacking stats, including runs, offloads, and try involvements. An improved Rabbitohs pack doesn’t exactly help this notion moving forward. You would have to be even more sure of his stocks when you factor in the popularity of his teammates, with players like Mitchell, Fifita, Smith, Walker and Graham often featuring in teams. The more of them you start with, the tougher it gets to cover in round 4 when they have the bye.
It is worth noting though, that the two seasons before ’23 and ’24, Murray essentially averaged mid 70’s which would easily establish him as a keeper. I still think he’s a solid option and worth considering, but a 50% ownership would indicate that someone is nearly essential, which I don’t agree with.
