Yesterday marked 9 years since the Grenfell fire tragedy, where 72 innocent lives were lost. Once again, firefighters stood with the community to say the names of those lost in the incident, to show solidarity with the bereaved and to walk in silence to demand justice. Next year marks 10 years since that tragic evening - the FBU will continue to demand justice.

Nine years on from the Grenfell Tower fire, we remember the 72 people who lost their lives and stand with the bereaved families, survivors and the North Kensington community. Grenfell was a preventable tragedy. The Inquiry exposed systemic failures across government, regulators and industry. Yet, nine years later, no one has been held accountable. As Grenfell Tower is dismantled and communities continue to fight for justice, the lessons of Grenfell must never be forgotten. Safe homes are a right, not a privilege.

🔥 When your house is on fire, every second counts. Dorset & Wiltshire fire service already responds nearly 2 minutes slower than the national average. Now the fire authority wants to close 8 stations, axe 96 firefighter posts, and remove 8 fire engines.

Ex army general on @lbc, asked if UK is ready for war. 'We haven't been since Cameron cut the defence budget by a 1/3 in 2010, people still don't understand what austerity actually mean't'.

🚨 Oxfordshire firefighters have voted overwhelmingly for industrial action in their consultative ballots. 71% turnout, 94% YES. Fire service management refuse to listen, despite clear opposition to closing stations, removing engines and axing jobs.

Buckinghamshire FRS has failed to recruit and invest in retained firefighters, and now plans to close two fire stations and remove six fire engines. Despite an overwhelming objection to the cuts in a public consultation, the fire authority is pushing ahead anyway.

The FBU are calling for immediate investment in the fire service and 5,000 new firefighters. Response times are 3.5 minutes slower than in the 1990s. Fire deaths have risen by up to 21%. This is the result of cuts to firefighters, fire engines and stations. Cuts kill.
