The value of @bitcoin lies in the hardness of coins. Hardness is the sound money principle. If you create new money (fork) the previous and subsequent derivative will be softer than before. It made sense prior to mass adoption to be able to be nimble but not any more. Therefor one should looks at BTC that commands demand for SoV and not direct utility in way of degen DeFi. People don’t want to spent BTC because it has the highest NTU (non transferable utility). However if the lack of upgrading affects the hardness due to difficulty falling as a result of joe bob deciding to park his money elsewhere then you do have a problem. At this point I’m not seeing any of that.

1/ I haven't been involved in @syscoin for the last couple of years now. A few,have asked to provide my support in this very odd situation that is taking place.
I left the $SYS Foundation,not by choice,but because I disagreed with the leadership at the time and wasn't a yes man.

In the race for the #Bitcoin app layer, inheriting a burgeoning ecosystem of financial applications carries significant momentum. In that regard EVM compatible @syscoin & @rootstock_io have a software edge over @Stacks and especially @Liquid_BTC.
Simultaneously just inheriting applications cannot be done in a silo, liquidity is needed and would create significant differentiation in the level of network activity.
A functional liquidity bridge between EVM compatible chains would be a significant boon on the Syscoin and Rootstock ecosystems. Multichain had brief support for Syscoin and Rootstock, but something more established is needed with greater industry traction and entrenchment. @LayerZero_Labs & @StargateFinance could facilitate a frenzy of economic activity on EVM #Bitcoin chains that have mostly been off the radar of the broader DeFi community thus far.

None of the other systems have such a developed tech stack that can quickly inherit all #Ethereum applications, speculatively achieve a relatively quick integration with industry standard cross chain liquidity facilitators, all while using #Bitcoin fundamentally for security.
