Young trees need at least 50L of water per week in order to become well-established trees in the future, which they are unlikely to get from summertime showers in the UK. Water you local street trees today to give them the best chance at a healthy future 🌳 #WateringWednesday

The car park on Belgrave Road in South Norwood had become a magnet for fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and rubbish. Local volunteers and Council teams have cleaned this site before, but each time it has been treated as a dumping ground by a small minority with no respect for the neighbourhood. As part of my zero-tolerance approach to environmental crime, we have carried out a major clean-up, removed nine abandoned vehicles, and are now installing cameras and improving security at the site. Those responsible for blighting our neighbourhoods should be under no illusion - we are coming after you. #ZeroTolerance

Wonder if the learners from @PegasusAcademy might be interested? I bet they have some great ideas...
What does a future where Londoners are more connected with water and nature look like to you?🐟 🎨 🌍 We're inviting primary aged children to share designs with the chance to have their artwork painted on new benches across the city. Find out more: bit.ly/43MXpQb

👀In London's heatwave last week, @cityoflondon took the temperature - same day & time - in 2 nearby public squares. The difference is green infrastructure. Urban tree canopy & vegetation are vital for coping with the climate crisis. That's why we're planting 🌳🌳 across LDN

It’s estimated less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled. It takes up to 500 years for plastic to break down in landfill, & plastic pollution harms marine wildlife. Reducing single-use plastics, eg buying zero-waste & refillable products, can help. More: littlegreenspace.org.uk/feat…

Fly-tipping is not okay. These people seem to think it’s okay to dump a mattress on the pavement. 👀 If you know who they are, tell us so we can send them a fine to pay for the clean up costs. Report them to flytip@croydon.gov.uk #CleanerCroydon #ZeroTolerance #RestoringPride

We have zero-tolerance for fly-tipping in Croydon & want to hold offenders to account. Help us catch & fine or prosecute those doing it. Visit orlo.uk/zhF67, check out the CCTV & let us know if you recognise anyone. #CleanerCroydon #ZeroTolerance #RestoringPride

Please share widely so people know and hopefully stop committing this crime!
Fed up with fly-tippers? So am I. We're now publishing CCTV footage of offenders caught in the act and asking residents to help identify them: lbc-app-w-wp-newsroom-p.azur… A recent case in Thornton Heath led to a £400 fine after a resident shared video evidence. If you fly-tip in Croydon and you're caught, you'll be pursued and fined. #ZeroTolerance #Croydon

Jo lives on a busy Sheffield road with no street trees and a lot of traffic noise. But as her newly sponsored tree grows, its dense canopy will act as a natural sound barrier, reducing noise pollution 🔇 and looking fabulous while doing it 🌸
