Luckily for us, @micrometerio provides an interface for registering both metrics and spans for tracing. AND it ships with @springframework 6 and @springboot 3 by default!

Developers should not need to write @opentelemetry code, but rather get the benefit out of using libraries that are already instrumented. This will be the real game changer - telemetry by default.

Our builds are failing because spring-cloud-bindings can't be downloaded anymore.
This dependency is hardcoded in the Spring Boot buildpack.
