With solar roofing, people have to be prodded and often can't afford the upfront cost to save $$ over the course of 20 years. If you replace the entire coal plant down the road all at once with solar or wind, the number of points of resistance are vastly diminished.

I was an internet programmer. I didn't use the Java language much but I remember that it was restricted to a "sandbox." I think that's what's needed with AI. If it can reach into networked systems and perform physical tasks, we may indeed be screwed.
