Finally watched “Greyhound” on Apple TV. Excellent movie on a largely under appreciated theater of WWII, the battle of the North Atlantic.
Tom Hanks was excellent, as one would expect.

Vance told groyper Megyn Kelly that "hawks" "don't have an alternative" and "they're proposing an endless conflict. They want this to go on until every bomb has been dropped or until every Iranian is dead." Not since Obama has a politician been this adept at destroying strawmen and misrepresenting his opponents' positions. Most "hawks" want the Iranians to be alive and free rather than under the boot of the Islamist regime he's so chummy with. It's his capitulation that creates "endless" conflict.

I would like to add my own small tribute to the great Gordon Wood. There is little I could add to the appreciation of his scholarship. What could I say that has not already been better said by those more qualified than I?

Alas, the day seemed to end too soon despite Prof. Wood spending nearly 3 hours. The most wonderful thing about the conversation was that he treated me like a peer throughout, patiently answering my questions & thoughtfully considering my comments.

As we parted, he gave me two signed volumes, including a handsomely bound copy of “Radicalism of the American Revolution”.
I am forever grateful to my friend & to Prof. Wood for that day. We have lost not only a great historian, but as importantly, a kind & generous man.
RIP.

The best discovery of our road trip has been a musician called Ella Langley. We had never heard of her before, but after hearing her on pretty much every country radio station, we’ve become big fans. She’s basically the soundtrack of our trip.
