I’m deeply honored to receive the ASN Foundation–Novo Nordisk Foundation, Henrik Dam Award for Scientific Discovery in Nutrition. I'm grateful to my mentors, trainees, collaborators, and colleagues for their intellectual partnership, support, and shared commitment to discovery.
We’re pleased to share the 2026 recipients of the joint awards from the American Society for Nutrition Foundation and the Novo Nordisk Foundation, recognising researchers whose work is advancing nutrition and obesity science.
This year’s awards honour Dr. Anna Elizabeth Thalacker-Mercer and Dr. Rachel Whooten. Their research spans from fundamental insights into nutrition and metabolism to practical approaches to improve prevention and care across the life course.
Together, their work highlights the vital role of nutrition science in addressing some of today’s most pressing public health challenges.
