“Now is the time for honest reflection,
where we are, where we need to be, and how we will get there. For us, a just energy transition isn’t optional; it’s essential. But we must be pragmatic. While we keep our eyes firmly on long-term development goals, we cannot afford to lose sight of the immediate realities, energy sufficiency and economic growth, especially for a continent like Africa that is still building its foundation.
At a global level, the pool of transition financing is tightening, and Africa is feeling that pressure even more, particularly with legacy challenges in our manufacturing sector. This is why collaboration is no longer a choice. Financial institutions across the continent must come together, leverage platforms, and actively find ways to bridge that gap,” said Adeniyi Olukoya, Senior Relationship Manager at the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
Join the conversations shaping real, scalable solutions at ASIS 2026, where leaders, institutions, and changemakers come together to move from ideas to implementation. Because Africa’s future will not be built in isolation; it will be built through collaboration.
