In a democratic party people make their own decisions without being shunned… Every week republicans in the US congress are voting against Trump’s things, I haven’t never heard someone getting expelled for disagreeing.

The Made in Africa Evaluation (MAE) Convening 2026 has wrapped up in Johannesburg, bringing together leaders across Africa’s evaluation ecosystem. Convened by AfrEA with support from the Mastercard Foundation, the gathering marked a key step in advancing African-centred approaches to monitoring, evaluation, learning, and evidence generation. A major highlight was the presentation of a unified Made in Africa Evaluation Framework co-developed by the University of Botswana (UB), the University for Development Studies (UDS), and YLabs, integrating Indigenous knowledge systems with practical evaluation tools for real-world application. Strong participation from institutions including SAMEA, CLEAR-AA, CLEAR-FA, IDEV/AfDB, DBSA, Twende Mbele, IDIA, DEval, and partners such as the Ford, Hilton, Gates, and Mastercard Foundations reflected growing continental and global momentum. A key outcome was clear commitment from institutions to pilot, teach, and scale the framework across academia, practice, and policy spaces. The movement is now shifting from ideas to implementation and evidence from practice. Gratitude to all partners and participants who continue to shape a more grounded, African-led evaluation future. #MadeInAfricaEvaluation #AfrEA #MAE2026 #EvaluationAfrica #AfricanDevelopment ....................................... #MadeInAfricaEvaluation #AfrEA #MAE2026 #EvaluationAfrica #AfricanDevelopment

The Cost of Selfish Leadership and the Responsibility of Our Generation One of the greatest challenges facing many societies today is the consequence of decisions made by previous generations. In many cases, those entrusted with leadership in politics, business, and public institutions pursued personal gain over the collective good. Public resources were mismanaged, opportunities were monopolized, and long-term development was sacrificed for short-term benefits. The result is a generation that faces economic hardship, weakened institutions, environmental challenges, and limited opportunities. This criticism is not directed at all parents or elders. Many worked hard, made sacrifices, and contributed positively to society. However, it is important to acknowledge that greed, corruption, and selfish decision-making by some individuals in positions of influence have left lasting burdens on younger generations. The lesson for today’s adults is clear: we must not repeat the same mistakes. Sustainability should guide our decisions in every aspect of life. Politically, we must support leaders based on competence, integrity, and vision rather than personal interests, ethnicity, or short-term benefits. Economically, we should create value, manage resources responsibly, and avoid practices that mortgage the future for immediate gain. Environmentally, we must protect natural resources and preserve them for those who come after us. Every generation inherits a society and leaves one behind. The true measure of success is not what we accumulate for ourselves but what we preserve and build for future generations. If we choose responsibility over greed, service over selfishness, and long-term thinking over immediate gratification, our children and grandchildren will inherit a more prosperous, stable, and just society. The future is not shaped by what we criticize alone, but by the choices we make today. #Leadership #GoodGovernance #Sustainability #FutureGenerations #Accountability #ResponsibleLeadership #NationBuilding #SocialJustice #EconomicDevelopment #YouthLeadership #PublicService #CivicResponsibility #Integrity #Development #BetterFuture #Nigeria #AfricanDevelopment #SustainableDevelopment #PoliticalResponsibility #GenerationalImpact

This week, as finance ministers across East Africa table budgets worth a combined USD 125 billion, I asked a question in the @nilepostnews (Uganda), The @NewTimesRwanda, @StandardKenya, and The @The_EastAfrican Newspaper: are these budgets simply funding government activity, or are they giving young Africans the agency to build the next economy? A demographic dividend is not automatic. It is earned, organised, financed and governed. Yet too many of our frameworks still treat young people as beneficiaries rather than as partners, builders and decision-makers. My argument is simple. We should train young people, yes — but we must also finance them. We should mentor them, yes — but we must also buy from them. We should invite them into consultations, yes — but we must also give them decision rights, procurement access and a fair chance to shape public priorities. A country does not become richer simply by spending more. It becomes richer when it trusts its people to create new value. East Africa's future will be stronger when its budgets finally trust its young people to lead it. 13,709 women trained. 2,750 income improvements recorded. One important lesson about workforce development in Africa. What does it actually take to move women from learning to earning? Over the last year, through the BoostHer Program—a partnership between She Leads Africa and Jobberman under the Young Africa Works initiative—we set out to answer that question. The results surprised us. 13,709 women trained across Nigeria 663 new jobs secured 154 promotions recorded 372 freelance gigs secured 1,561 participants recorded product and service sales 2,750 women reported measurable income improvements directly linked to skills gained through the program But beyond the numbers, Year 1 revealed something even more important: Workforce development is not simply a skills challenge. It's an access challenge. A confidence challenge. A community challenge. And ultimately, a systems challenge. From training women in Data Analysis, Digital Marketing & Content Creation, Executive Virtual Assistance, and Brand Design, to delivering livelihood skills and financial literacy training inside IDP camps, we learned that meaningful economic inclusion happens when programs are designed around the realities of the people they serve—not around assumptions. One of our biggest lessons? Women don't just want access to learning. They want to learn in community. When we shifted from a purely self-paced model to live, interactive learning experiences, engagement and completion rates improved significantly. That insight is now shaping how we scale to our Year 2 target of 30,000 women trained and 15,000 active placements. This report is more than a review of a program. It is a case study on what happens when workforce development is intentionally designed for women's economic power. If you're interested in the future of work, skills development, gender inclusion, youth employment, or economic mobility in Africa, this report is worth your time. Read the full report on our website HERE: sheleadsafrica.org/from-clas… What do you think is the biggest barrier preventing young women from translating education into economic opportunity? . . . . #SheLeadsAfrica #SLABoostHer #WorkforceDevelopment #FutureOfWork #WomenInBusiness #EconomicInclusion #YoungAfricaWorks #Jobberman #DigitalSkills #WomenInTech #CareerDevelopment #Employment #AfricanDevelopment #ThoughtLeadership
