I wish I could say I'm surprised that journalist @AliAbunimah has been arrested in Switzerland upon arrival to give a speech on Gaza, but the crackdown on free speech in the West in order to shield Israel from criticism has become so severe that nothing surprises me about it:

Ali Abunimah - arguably the leading long-standing American educator on the occupation of Palestine through EI - was arrested in Zurich, ahead of a talk he was invited to give. This is bone-chilling. With the war over, it’s time to take about why Israel lost the information war. Our hasbara is atrocious. Our enemies accused us of hating Palestinians, committing war crimes and disregarding international law.
Our biggest accounts and spokespeople spent vast amounts of money and thousands of hours proving them right by demonizing Palestinians and international law. Why did we put so much effort into showcasing our worst sides? It’s like we were working for the other side.

Important to remember that much and perhaps most of animal medical research is useless. FDA needs to stop demanding animal research with poor predictive value for people. I am grateful for never having to kill a mouse to get into medical school. Cures don't come from that work bc of poor predictive value in people. I hope someone sets these monkeys free again.
