This CAIRIBU U-RIG session will feature a talk from Jean-Philippe Gourdine titled "Bladder Microbial Catabolism & Host Urinary Glycans, A New perspective On Overactive Bladder" & Emmanuel Elijah, who will discuss urinary metabolomics work from his research with Lindsey Burnett.
Are you interested in learning more about the urobiome? Join the CAIRIBU U-RIG research hour, which aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and spur collaborations in the urobiome and adjacent fields.
This session will feature a talk from Jean-Philippe Gourdine & Emmanuel Elijah.
We're delighted to invite applications for the first grant call of our Urinary Tract Infections Research Initiative - worth up to £250,000. Deadline for expressions of interest is 15 November 2024. For more details visit: ow.ly/mKlq50TqH1n#Urology#UTIs#R&D #Research
Omg SUPER proud mentor moment tonight!!! @SamCornelius15 gets an AMAZING score on his F31 resubmission and Ceejay Saenz is totally rocking her first ever poster session at Cold Spring Harbor Microbiome!! Couldn’t ask for more talented PhD students! 🎶This is why we do it!🎶
Take a look at our most recent #preprint from @TheDeNiscoLab cataloging the interaction between #biochemical#ecology and #microbial ecology in the urinary #microbiome of #postmenopausal women with recurrent #UTI.

We used a highly multiplexed targeted #metabolomics assay from @biocrates_life, whole genome #metagenomics, and an eye towards ecological analysis to identify how the urinary microbiome is associated with the urinary #metabolome. We also uncover novel diagnostic and prognostic #biomarkers for recurrent urinary tract infection (#rUTI).
If you have a chance to give it a read, we welcome any feedback. I'm particularly interested in any ideas you might have in biochemical beta diversity analysis!
Our own @Hrishi_Dalvi representing the lab at his first-ever post session at #UTDResearchDays 🎉 Great job Hrishi, so proud of all your hard work on this exciting project!! Next stop the @CAIRIBU1 Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, WI thanks to a generous travel award!! 🦌
SEPTEMBER 27TH
@NicoleDeNisco@TheDeNiscoLab will be kicking off season 2 of the CAIRIBU U-RIG Research Hour with her talk "Fatty acid auxotrophy as a defining metabolic adaptation of urogenital lactobacilli".
All are invited to join this community of interdisciplinary, collaborative-minded investigators in the urobiome field.

Waking up to find that one of the most exciting lines of research in your lab has been scooped by a huge name in an adjacent field is not fun 😠I know @PLOSBiology accepts scooped manuscripts. Does anyone else know of other journals with a similar policy? #ECRwoes#SciTwitter
I wrote to my Congressional Representative today. Thank you @urogynsociety for the heads up and example text. Please write your Congressperson this week!
This is IMPORTANT and I am so proud of @urogynsociety for rallying around this policy that will fail our patients. Contact your reps and spread far and wide so we can protect women’s health research funding!
Flight back from Columbus cancelled!! Again! Taking our fate into our own hands and road tripping back to Dallas! Had an amazing time at #UTIcon2024 even with all the travel issues. Wish us luck! #LabRoadTrip

Next up is @MikeNeug from @TheDeNiscoLab to tell us about the connection between metabolites in urine and recurrent UTI in postmenopausal women #UTIconf24
