Told my 14 year old daughter about this. She just laughed and said “yeah good luck with that” and then asked for a screenshot so her friends could laugh at it too.

Starmer seeks British carve-out from Trump’s Anthropic AI ban
We can give them that if they exempt American companies from the Online Safety Act.

A year after the Strategic Defence Review was agreed, the UK government has decided not to fund its own review. In doing so, it is not merely failing to move forward — it is actively going backwards. chathamhouse.org/2026/06/joh…
Except your policies continue to channel money into Putin’s coffers via Russian oil and gas imports. Praising the courage and commitment of our armed forces today rings hollow when government policy helps fund the regime responsible for the aggression they are standing against.

Without doubt, Birmingham New Street is the most confusing station in the country. Whoever designed it should consider another, entirely different, career.

We need to get out of this mindset that wars are won by soldiers alone. They're won by supply chains, factories and the country behind them.
That's the conversation we need to have.

Congratulations to my former boss, @LNER chairman and DfT Operator CEO Robin Gisby OBE on his well-deserved recognition in today’s King’s Birthday Honours.
From the start of LNER in 2018 through to the end of 2025, Robin encouraged us to ‘Be Bold’, he was consistently supportive of our vision and ambition to create a better railway. He has also been a notable supporter of the important work of @RBF1858 and other railway charities.
Thank you and congratulations Robin!

Queen Elizabeth rode her horse for the last time at Trooping the Color in 1986. She was 60 at that time, and she decided to ride in an open carriage after that.
Her horse, Burmese, retired that year due to her age, so the Queen decided she'd "retire" also.

I’ve been knocked on twice by labour and once by reform and I’ve never had as many leaflets through my door (3 labour, 2 reform) and addressed letters from restore and one from Carol Vorderman. Nothing from any other party. Sick of the whole thing now and want it over.

Goldsmith and Burke, Swift and the Bishop of Cloyne
All hated Whiggery; but what is Whiggery?
A levelling, rancorous, rational sort of mind
That never looked out of the eye of a saint
Or out of drunkard's eye.
