Something that changed my perspective on weight was talking to my older/elderly relatives. I expected them to say they wished they had cared less about beauty standards, etc, but several of them said they wished they weighed lessโtheir joints now hurt and they felt weak

Today is the 100th anniversary of artist Mary Cassattโs death. She died on June 14, 1926, at the age of 82 in her adopted country of France. She was born in Pennsylvania to a well-to-do family in 1844. Although she never had children, Cassatt is beloved for her tender paintings of mothers and children. I first fell in love with her work when I saw a copy of โLittle Girl in a Blue Armchairโ as a child. One of my projects in high school art class was copying her Japanese prints!
