This is not a loss. Palestine Action was so effective in disrupting the Israeli weapons industry, that the state threw all its might at us. By doing so, they've exposed how they prioritise the Zionist regime over its own citizens. As long as we continue to resist, we've won.

This Governments branding of protest as 'terrorism' has seen grandparents arrested and dragged through the courts simply for holding up signs. It's deeply authoritarian when people are speaking out against a genocide and for a free Palestine.

BREAKING: The Court of Appeal has backed the government's appeal against the High Court and reinstated the proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. As I've been noting for some time, this was always going to happen. The police ignored the High Court's ruling of proscription as unlawful and continued arresting people as terrorists for holding placards stating: "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action." On Friday, Judge Johnson upgraded the criminal damage convictions of the Filton Four to terrorism offences in his sentencing, even though at the time of sentencing Palestine Action was not, in the eyes of the courts, considered a terrorist organisation. It was as though the High Court decision never happened. We have been subjected to legal threatre to make it look as if the judiciary have carefully weighed our most cherished and basic rights against the interests of the British state in continuing its complicity in the Gaza genocide. This has all been a stitch-up to keep the focus on the faux-illegality of opposing a genocide rather than the very real illegality of the British state colluding in atrocities that have killed many tens of thousands – and more likely, hundreds of thousands – of civilians in Gaza. Anyone who has supported this dangerous farce should hang their heads in shame.

More Disco Less Fascism DJ Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, at the Carnival Against Fascism in Brighton city centre yesterday. The Carnival brought an estimated 4000 people to the streets to oppose a planned hate march by a right-wing group calling themselves 'Patriots'.

On today in Brighton Brighton is never, ever, going to allow fascists to march in the city. It was a carnival and a party of anti-fascists. Parents and their kids, young people — Fatboy Slim even appeared and did a DJ set. Every single avenue and street was blocked. The police, for some reason, decided to carve, using force, a 100m little walk in either direction of the station, before they ultimately sent the fascists home. Questions need to be asked to why it was deemed necessary to use violence to carve a tiny walk for maximum 100 fascists against crowds of thousands. They should have been held at the station and then sent home. Police decisions risked crushes and stampedes.

It's out of control, and there's no political leadership. Why isn't the Prime Minister speaking out against the twisted logic that blames people, entirely unconnected with the crime, solely based on the colour of their skin?

Crime is now being viewed through an entirely racialised lens – but only when the perpetrators aren't white. When Chas Corrigan stabbed a Saudi student to death, or Paul Doyle mowed down Liverpool fans, white people didn't have to fear being a target of collective retaliation.

The are good arguements for and against The Greens standing and campaigning in Makerfield. The bottom line though is that it is a decision for the local party and they have decided to stand. Greens now need to stop discussing the pros and cons of this and support this decision.

Surprised how much heat this is getting. For accuracy, the Greens are demonstrably already the party of the young working class, the inner city working class, the minority ethnic working class, the LGBTQ working class and the graduate working class. We’ll come for the rest too.
The Greens are the party of the working class. We are not here to play tag along to Starmerism with a northern accent.

As a gay man who has been on the receiving end of homophobic violence, I would love to abolish male threats against gender non conforming presentation! Given it’s a byproduct of misogyny, you know that’s not going to happen any time soon - although all men need to fight it as hard as we can. As a gay man I clearly feel that acutely! There’s no evidence base about trans women using men’s toilets because it’s almost never happened. You know perfectly well what will happen if suddenly trans women start accessing men’s toilets. Putting people presenting as the opposite gender in that environment would result in abuse, humiliation and violence. Trans women know this and will simply stop using public toilets, which will mean withdrawing from society. The idea businesses, organisations and local authorities will invest in creating and maintaining third spaces is a fantasy - and you know it. I would respect you more if you simply said “yes life will be made significantly harder for trans women, trans men and butch lesbians, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.” In practise you’ve helped create a law which combines being both unjust and impractical, and which makes us an outlier among Western nations. It will do nothing to reduce the rate of male violence against women, the principal causes of which have been ignored because of Britain’s anti-trans hysteria. As a result, this law will - in time - collapse, and history will make its judgements accordingly. Enjoy your victory while you last! And that’s the thing. None of you are behaving like you’ve won anything. Telling!

I honestly don’t think the Makerfield election should be taking as much of the Green Party’s attention & energy as it is. It’s causing so much unnecessary discord & distraction, both sides of the debate.

Yesterday in our hospital in west london there were 6 women who presented after unprovoked attacks just because they were wearing Hijab. One had serous life changing facial injuries. One was attacked by dogs (intentionally) All hospital staff who wear Hijab had to ask family members to come and take them home safely or pay for very expensive Taxis. Are we living in Gaza. Why was this hate march and violence allowed by @ShabanaMahmood

For anyone that thinks the Greens have any chance of winning Makerfield. You can get a great price at Ladbrokes.😉
Ladbrokes now give Labour a 69% chance of winning in Makerfield Here's how we bet: Labour - 4/9 Reform UK - 15/8 Restore Britain - 20/1 Greens - 100/1 Conservatives - 200/1 Lib Dems - 200/1 ladbrokes.com/en/sports/even…

Yep. I think the most important thing to remember is that it’s a difficult decision which we’re all mulling over in good faith for the best interests of the party. Some of the denunciations & accusations flying around at folk for holding the ’wrong’ position are incredibly toxic.

Green members that want to campaign hard in Makerfield what's the strategy? The better you do the more likely Reform wins. Burnham losing could increase the chance of the Greens replacing Labour but also increases the chance of a Reform government.A risky game of Russian roulette

All these things can be true at the same time. Labour and Burnham can't be trusted. The Greens should talk to Burnham. It is in the Greens interest for Burnham to lose. It is in the Greens interest to not campaign against Burnham.

Another two bite the dust: Reform UK Councillors in Durham, Andrew Harrison & Kenny Hope resign from Durham Council over leadership difficulties. They couldn't get on with leaders Andrew Husband and Darren Grimes. This makes 20 Reform UK Councillors gone since local elections.

Personal positions on the Andy Burnham thing. 1/ Like most people in Manchester I like Andy, he’s done many good things here, many of which are below the radar outside GMcr. 2/ He’s not the messiah and he will not prove more powerful than the Labour Party machinery >

The Greens shouldn't stand against Andy Burnham in Makerfield. We wouldn't win. It would damage our credibility. Reform would 100% get in. And a successful Burnham would owe greens a favour and be more likely to not contest key green targets in a general election.
