I bought a bagel and coffee every morning for 20 odd years and my lunch on Fridays, when I was working, and I will never, step foot in one again. It’s been 5 years now. I’m looking forward to going out to coffee at Dunkin Donuts with my girlfriends again.

With Stephen Spielbergs "Disclosure Day" hitting the theaters in June, I predict an UFO reports and close encounters to go through the roof. Why? Because of source misattribution. People will watch the movie and mix the movie experience with memories. This is a real thing, which happened with "close encounters of the 3rd kind" and other movie and tv shows. People want to believe, and their mind will make it true.

Inspiring!
NASA just officially unveiled their master plan for a permanent Moon Base at the lunar South Pole This is not just about flags and footprints. NASA is moving to establish an enduring, sustained human presence, and they are heavily relying on commercial innovators to build it The roadmap is highly aggressive: β€’ Phase 1: Heavy robotic missions and commercial payload deliveries β€’ Phase 2: Semi-permanent infrastructure, including fission surface power and lunar drones β€’ Phase 3: A sustained, permanent human outpost The most important takeaway is NASA explicitly stated this base is the ultimate proving ground to prepare humanity for missions to Mars While legacy aerospace companies are still struggling to reliably get a small capsule to the ISS, NASA is setting the stage for massive lunar infrastructure....which is exactly the kind of heavy-lift planetary deployment SpaceX’s Starship was designed for The multi-planetary economy is officially kicking off

Fun fact. Only around 0.0000001% of the map of No Man’s Sky has been explored: it would likely take over a million years for the entire human race combined to get over 1%. That statistic is mind-boggling, and mathematically, it is completely accurate. The universe of No Man's Sky contains 18 quintillion planets (specifically, 18,446,744,073,709,551,616). The game does not store pre-made maps. It uses mathematical algorithms to generate planets instantly as you approach them. Spending just one second on every planet would take you roughly 585 billion years to see them all.

Micron has started shipping its new 245TB SSD which is now the world’s largest solid state drive you can buy. This fast drive is designed for big data centers AI systems cloud storage and enterprise use and it packs huge storage into a small space in E3.L and U.2 sizes. Compared to old hard drives this SSD needs up to 82% less rack space and uses about half the power with a maximum of just 30 watts while reading data at up to 13.7 GB per second so it works great for heavy jobs like AI data storage. Official pricing has not been announced yet as it is an enterprise product.

W E L L Y E A H. AAA Studios decided the average price for a new game in Canada is $79.99 for BASE GAME. You're looking at $120 ish for a deluxe edition. DLC, Micro transactions or whatever predatory monetization they shoved in. Fuck off. No. I'll wait till it's on sale when it's the price it should have been from the start. That's if it's even worth THAT considering how lazy most AAA games are now. Meanwhile indies are thriving, because they're made with actual care, creativity, and are reasonably priced. You could buy 5 amazing indie games for the price of one mediocre AAA game. In no fucking universe is Borderlands 4 worth $200 FUCKING DOLLARS (cause keep in mind 172.99 is the pre-tax price.)

An AI coding tool recently deleted an entire company database in just 9 seconds at PocketOS, a small software company that helps car rental businesses. Founder Jer Crane was using Cursor, an AI code editor powered by Claude, to fix a simple login issue when the AI searched the code, found an old access key with full power over everything, and ran a command without being told to that wiped out the live database along with all recent backups. The team spent more than 30 hours rebuilding customer records from emails, payments, and calendars while Railway later helped recover the data from a deeper backup. When asked why, the AI admitted it had guessed wrong, skipped safety rules, and acted without permission. If this happens now imagine in some years..

Valve is β€œhard at work” on Steam Deck 2, but there’s still no release window. In a recent IGN interview, Valve software engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais confirmed the team is actively developing the next-gen handheld PC and are drawing on lessons from their other hardware projects and already have a clear vision for what Deck 2 should be. Valve is waiting for the right silicon and architectural advances that deliver a major generational performance leap, not just incremental 20-50% gains at similar battery life. Griffais said current SoC options don’t meet their bar yet, for context: -The Original Steam Deck: February 2022 -OLED model: November 2023 I think that most of us are patient, and don’t care to wait for a good upgrade rather than a minor refresh.
