This is lie. There is no genocide happening in Gaza.
There's a Genocide happening in Gaza. Our Government is arresting pensioners for holding cardboard signs that say "I support Palestine Action." And Andy Burnham - labours apparent last hope - won't even acknowledge what's really happening.

If someone broke into the Green Party’s offices and caused £1m of damage and fractured your spine with a sledge hammer what do you think would be an appropriate sentence?
Gut wrenching to see four young people jailed for direct action against an arms supplier to Israel. Years in prison for protesting to save lives in Gaza, with 'terrorism' used despite no jury convicting them of it. A truly dangerous attack on the right to protest.

Breaking into a building causing £1m of damage and fracturing à police officer’s spine with a sledge hammer isn’t “protesting” its serious criminality.
I'd never condone violence against a police officer - this is utterly dishonest. The jury weren't judging them on a terrorism offence. This is an awful sleight of hand. The creeping encroachment of terror laws onto protest & removal of our juries should worry all of us.

It’s taken long enough ….
In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel. This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide. I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Here’s Polanski arguing that someone who attacked a police officer with a sledgehammer fracturing her spine shouldn’t face serious time in jail! Revolting.

One of them attacked a police officer with a sledge hammer fracturing her spine. Describing that as “protesting” is frankly obscene.
Scale of sentences on the 4 young people who took direct action against the arms supplier to Israel is truly shocking. To impose years of imprisonment for protesting to save lives in Gaza is unjust, especially sentencing on terrorist grounds they were never convicted of by a jury

Madness from whichever Treasury source made these comments. A reminder of what Denis Healey had to say on this “Once we cut defence expenditure to the extent where our security is imperilled, we have no houses, we have no hospitals, we have no schools. We have a heap of cinders”

One of them assulted a Police officer with a sledge hammer fracturing her spine.
Protesters gathered outside Woolwich Crown Court to denounce the potential "terrorist" sentence against the "Filton 24" group, who are being trialed over a protest at an Israeli defense facility in Bristol in 2024.

Just remember one of these peole attacked a police ofice with a sledge hammer and fractured her spine.
🚨BREAKING -- A judge has ruled that four Palestine Action activists will be sentenced with a "terrorism connection". Samuel Corner, Leona Kamio, Fatema Rajwani, and Charlotte Head appeared in Woolwich Crown Court today after being convicted of criminal damage at an Elbit Systems factory in 2024. Judge Johnson ruled: "I am sure each of the defendant's offence involved serious damage to property, was designed to influence the UK government, to intimidate a section of the public, and was for the purpose of advancing a political or ideological cause". The section of the public referred to by Johnson was employees of and companies linked to Elbit Systems, which he said constitutes a "section of the public". Johnson added: "It follows I am bound by this legislation to find that the offence in each case had a terrorist connection and apply that as an aggravating factor in increasing the seriousness of the offence". This is the first time in British history that terrorism provisions have been used against direct action activists.

South Wales Police have shelved their proposed “anti-Muslim hostility” guidance following the threat of legal action from the Free Speech Union. The force has written to the FSU confirming that it has pressed ‘pause’ on controversial plans to log comments deemed to go beyond “legitimate” discussion of Islam. That would inevitably have included criticism of the hijab or halal food. More concerningly, it would have deterred people from speaking out about issues such as the grooming gangs scandal and Islamist extremism. Under the proposal, anything deemed to go beyond “legitimate” discussion of Islam would have been recorded as an “anti-social behaviour incident” — the successor to the draconian non-crime hate incident. Such records can appear on enhanced DBS checks, potentially preventing people from securing employment, particularly in professions such as teaching or care work. South Wales Police were also referred to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) by Shadow Equalities Minister Claire Coutinho. The FSU’s General Secretary, Lord Young, said: “Blasphemy laws were repealed in this country 18 years ago, and we will do everything in our power to stop them being brought back through the back door.” Let this serve as a warning to any other public body considering the introduction of its own Islamic blasphemy law — especially police forces: we will challenge it. It's a start. Hague and Oxford must now show they will challenge and where necessary penalise students who protest disruptively. If not, it'll be yet another case of lecturers facing this nonsense unsupported. Equally crucial: remind these students that defamation is illegal.
The rest of @michaelpforan's talks should go ahead. Freedom of speech is a fundamental academic freedom and it must be upheld. Equally, legitimate and lawful protest has an important place in university life. The task is to maintain both. Especially at events open to the public like this, it is an important Oxford tradition that any disagreement is expressed in a civil and respectful way.

🚨NEW: South Wales Police has just SCRAPPED their Islamic blasphemy law. No religion should be protected from criticism in this country. Now it's on the Government to repeal their Islamophobia definition and stop this happening again.
South Wales Police has instructed officers to log comments they feel are beyond "legitimate" criticism of Islam. This is, exactly as I warned, a blasphemy law through the back door. Nobody voted for this. My letter to the Chief Constable👇🏾

I hope this is true, but I’m somewhat sceptical.
Russian forces according to reports are being forced to withdraw on mass from positions around the Kinburn Spit south of the Dnipro river due to severe supply difficulties caused by continued Ukrainian drone strike campaigns on Southern logistical routes.

South Wales Police appear to be zealously enforcing their own version of an Islamic blasphemy law. Officers have been instructed to record speech that goes beyond what they deem to be “legitimate” discussion of Islam. This creates an extraordinarily restrictive category of speech. Why should a South Wales Police officer have the power to decide what constitutes acceptable discussion of Islam and Muslims in a country that abolished its blasphemy laws 18 years ago? The Free Speech Union has written to South Wales Police demanding that this guidance be withdrawn. If they fail to do so, we have warned that we will seek a judicial review. Shadow Minister for Equalities @ClaireCoutinho has now referred South Wales Police to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). Read Claire’s letter below 👇
I have formally referred South Wales Police to the equalities watchdog. Their guidance amounts to a blasphemy law against Islam and has no basis in law. We cannot put one religion on a pedestal above others. We should all be equal before the law.

The guidance simply provides guidance on how the law should be implemented. @BellRibeiroAddy what changes do you want to see about how the law should be implemented?
The latest EHRC guidance will only further harm and marginalise trans people. Trans people deserve to live with the dignity, freedom and safety to fully participate in public life. I signed EDM 240 this week, calling for this guidance to be rejected 👇🏾 edm.parliament.uk/early-day-…
