This causes no end of frustration and pain for my grandparents. We must do better.

‘I am frequently emailed by teachers who say there has been a huge increase in the number of young ppl who ask not to do things because they are anxious – and these requests are being granted. The concern is this is setting young ppl up to fail, I agree’ theguardian.com/commentisfre…

I talk passionately about having a character curriculum and what I believe children deserve. This here. This is exactly it. Generations of children deserve to be taught about these two. Their respect. Their friendship. Their love.

Important thread. I'm not a mother, but I am a teacher. I do my best for my students. For me, that's loosening the link in the chain.
A thread about parenting as the adult child of neglectful and abusive parents 🧵 My youngest child is doing her A levels, she is dyslexic, super motivated and organised. She plans her time well and uses her parents as resources. I have been following her lead on what she needs.

Last time for this. My love letter to teaching. For all that's bad it's still good. bennewmark.wordpress.com/202…

Hey @NASUWT, where's the result of the members survey regarding the pay deal? And assuming it's gone as expected, when can we expect a reballot of members over strike action? @NEUnion is claiming plenty of our members due to your inaction, can we get this sorted asap.#nasuwt23

Perfect!
New to teaching physics? @IOPTeaching have made a series of 10-minute videos for ECTs that should help you prepare. Today, we’ll focus on maths in physics. 🧵 #TeachPhysics 1/6

This was me. I'm so glad we are talking about autistic girls now, but gosh do we have a mountain to climb.

Exupery-esque!
Lofty ambition of the day.

This is great. Couple more: - food can be really tricky, is there a quiet place to eat? - is there an alternative to bathroom stalls (preferably without a hand dryer!)? - does library have books on special interests? - check lighting levels in rooms

Is the whole phase of trainee teachers 'observing' a more experienced teacher mostly a waste of time? I didn't know what the salient features were at the start of my PGCE. Focus on 'behaviour and relationships' isn't enough detail...

I really like the super granular approach in the new ECT, but I can't help thinking that we needed that last year!

The most helpful feedback I've had is the most specific. Teaching shouldn't be dark arts, so show trainees what to look for. Teachers are learners too!
