My youngest child is doing her A levels, she is dyslexic, super motivated and organised. She plans her time well and uses her parents as resources. I have been following her lead on what she needs.

This is great. Couple more:
- food can be really tricky, is there a quiet place to eat?
- is there an alternative to bathroom stalls (preferably without a hand dryer!)?
- does library have books on special interests?
- check lighting levels in rooms

Is the whole phase of trainee teachers 'observing' a more experienced teacher mostly a waste of time? I didn't know what the salient features were at the start of my PGCE. Focus on 'behaviour and relationships' isn't enough detail...

The most helpful feedback I've had is the most specific. Teaching shouldn't be dark arts, so show trainees what to look for. Teachers are learners too!
