"Let’s be clear — what you are doing is not about climate action or responding to an emergency. It never was. This is communication tactics disguised as politics." Yesterday I adressed the #AustrianWorldSummit along with Angela Merkel, António Guterres, Alok Sharma and others.

There is an opportunity here to keep car travel down, but if we sit back and don't do anything it'll creep back to where it was and carry on growing
Replying to @DrGregMarsden
/ - reduced supply, or capacity in mass transit systems, even with staggered working hours To me it’s almost inevitable that without intervention car traffic will rebound to pre-COVID levels. That’s the challenge.

Is it just me, or does #Brexit seem trivial in comparison to the #ClimateEmergency?
“People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction. And all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”My speech in UN General Assembly in print theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Point is, everyone can do something but it's up to government to do the really big things
"Please save your praise, we don’t want it. Don’t invite us here to tell us how inspiring we are without doing anything about it. It doesn’t lead to anything." Today I and other young activists visited US Congress... Tomorrow we return to give speeches. theguardian.com/environment/…
Good reminder about how transport is 'progressing' !
The cars that are bought have got 15% heavier since 2001 and occupancy has fallen 2.5%. As I head off to the @SmartTransport_ conference to launch the new CoTD report on Shared Mobility (details soon...) I will be asking what is smart about the innovations of the past 2 decades!
