Education is the greatest expenditure by the state of Texas, and yet @GregAbbott_TX placed someone incompetent in-charge of the Texas Education Agency. #Schools #Houston #FortWorthISD
I was at the Texas Public Schools Town Hall in Fort Worth. I heard Gina Hinojosa talk about education in Texas. Here's some of what she said: 1. As Governor, on day 1, I will fire Mike Morath. 2. I will suspend the rigged A-F system. 3. I will end the STAAR test. 4. I am a proud product of public schools. 5. There is no strong America without strong public schools. 6. Government is everywhere we don't need it, and nowhere we do. Vote for @GinaHinojosaTX Greg Abbott, Tarrant County is coming for you. @GregAbbott_TX

It was only 1 school that triggered the takeover. Abbott took control (with Mike Morath) and 3 Full Years Later.. @GregAbbott_TX thinks *18* D-rated is 'success'? #HISD #Houston @GinaHinojosaTX
Houston ISD sees student test scores soar after the state takeover. When the state took over HISD had 121 D & F rated campuses. Now there are zero F rated & 18 D rated. Also the number of A & B rated campuses more than doubled. Every child can succeed. foxnews.com/us/texas-largest…

"Since 2020, the state education agency has taken over eight school districts — four in just the past few months — and installed leaders linked to Houston’s controversial superintendent, Mike Miles. At least another 10 are at risk of takeover." x.com/propublica/status/2062…

Several newly installed school district leaders have ties to Houston school Superintendent Mike Miles, who has sparked widespread protests for the firing of principals and teachers, mass school closures, and the conversion of schools into charters. propublica.org/article/texas…

No state has taken over as many public school districts as Texas. Since 2020, the Texas Education Agency has installed its own hand-picked leaders in eight districts. Four of those came just this spring. At least another 10 are at risk of takeover. propublica.org/article/texas…

And yet, Governor Abbott is taking over local school districts. He throws out the locally elected school board members and installs puppets from the state. To do this, he has to invalidate the votes of the parents in the local community. In effect, taking away their right to vote. What kind of government takes away people's right to vote? Communist. Are parents getting the final say on what's best for children? No, they are not even allowed to vote for school board members.

Featured from @josephineklee, co-published @ProPublica: Some experts believe the ultimate objective of any Texas district takeover is to disenfranchise communities. “It all begins at the school board level to then completely disempower the community.” texasobserver.org/mike-miles…

I believe Mike Miles was sent to HISD to wreak havoc so teachers and parents want to leave. Then announce some campuses must be closed due to low attendance. Reducing school districts reduces taxes and that is the ultimate GOP goal. It’s so predictable. Worse, if they are successful, the US will gradually shift to the British school system. The most wealthy will go to the best (posh) private schools. These children will in turn go to the best universities and get the best jobs. The wealthy families children will secure the best jobs. Our founding fathers lived in this system and that’s why they supported public education as a cornerstone of democracy. #PublicConcern #PublicEducation #TxEd #TaxDollars #Transparency #Charters #Abbott #SchoolChoice #Vouchers @ACLU @ACLUTx @GeneforTexas @TMFtx @HoustonChron @KHOU @KPRC2 @FOX26Houston @abc13houston

The same Houston Mayor @houmayor who stays SILENT on Houston city public schools (#HISD), while they're being CLOSED -&- ran into the ground by an #Abbott-appointee, pays a mayoral 'adviser' $127,000/yr to come to work Only 8-Days A YEAR & sends "less than 1 email per week".
Chris Brown, a senior advisor for Mayor John Whitmire's office, has swiped into city facilities on 13 days total in a period of 600 days and sent less than 1 email per week, records show. bit.ly/4urHx0y
