A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin until 9 PM CDT

The threats associated with this watch are several tornadoes likely, scattered hail up to tennis ball size possible and widespread gusts up to 80 mph likely. There are 13,489,217 people in the watch along with 4500 schools and 259 hospitals.

There is a threat for strong (EF-2 ) tornadoes across northern IL this PM between 4 and 8 PM. The highest threat will be in the dark red shaded area. This area has shifted farther south than previously forecast. Take tornado warnings seriously. #ILwx #INwx

Did you know some #tornadoes occur without the parent cloud rotating? #Landspouts occur in cumuliform clouds along weather boundaries where air converges under weak vertical rotation. No RFD ratings exist for these, but they can be strong enough to produce EF-2 and 3 damages!🌪️☁️
