UPDATE: Make that 400 wells plugged under my Administration — more wells in the last 3 years than the previous 11 years combined.
These abandoned wells pollute our air and waterways, directly threatening the health and well-being of our farmers, families, and communities. We’re doing something about it here in Pennsylvania.
Today we capped our 200th well here in Pennsylvania.
Abandoned wells are dangerous, leaking methane up to 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
That’s warming our planet and contributing to air pollution that damages our lungs and our hearts.
By capping these wells, we’re tackling a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions — and creating thousands of good-paying jobs in the process.
