The uterus changes in structure and stiffness over time, which may influence conditions such as fibroids, prolapse, or infertility. To better understand the connection between age and uterine mechanics, researchers used Raman spectroscopy and biaxial inflation testing across a preclinical aging model. They found: 🔹 Uterine stiffness declined during reproductive aging but increased again in the oldest group (20–24 months). 🔹 Collagen and elastin signals were highest in the oldest group, while glycogen was most prominent in the youngest. By connecting how the uterus moves with what it’s made of, this study adds to our understanding of how aging may affect uterine health.
