To go over the absolute basics one more time: we don't mask to protect ourselves (even if it's an added bonus).
We mask because we never know if we are asymptomatic or presymptomatic, and the best protection for EVERYONE is not passing the virus on to others if we are infectious
Moreover, it has to happen. The cost of not doing it is so extreme that it can’t be ignored. The only question is “how much delay do we chose to pay for?”
I recently started using this for my Zoom background at work. I work at a conservation organization.
I think I got too real with this aesthetic choice. It's uncomfortable for me to have this background, but that was the point. I'm tired of the hopium.
Any thoughts?
i’m not going to claim to be perfect with my precautions, but i have consistently masked since the pandemic started and don’t intend to stop any time soon! i’m used to being the only one masked and hope others take it seriously again soon #MaskUp#CovidIsntOver
I put a complaint in about this at Hobart airport and received an apology and confirmation that removal is only required for identification step, not before and not after.
3.5 years later not only isn't there a test for a disease 1 in 10 people will get, there isn't even a way to easily and reliably test if you are infected with the virus that might give you the disease. And there's no treatment. And we went back to normal under these conditions
Later this week, I am due to fly my own plane to Broome and start working as an emergency doctor with @CallMeSafetyMom. If the price of both of us not getting sick and screwing those arrangements up is to wear a fit-tested N95 on this packed bus, WHY WOULDN'T I DO IT?!
Thank you Desi News for the Agent of Meaningful Change Achiever Award! It means so very much to be recognized by my community.

An exciting day. Outdoor Art and Craft festival.
In person meet up with a brilliant artist, an only-known-on-twitter friend.
Masks? Mutual respect? Shared caution? Easiest thing ever.
