@RCSnews Ring fencing beds can only happen when all the other resources to run surgery are also ring fenced. In many places that means continuing to use other Covid lite sites due to the way our hospitals are designed. #ItHasToHappen
The rest of the report makes equally depressing reading. Has the #NHS really survived? In particular, note that there is ‘no plan’ for how to restart dentistry!
I'm delighted that today, we are announcing 40 new hospitals we will build in the 2020s.
We protected the NHS in the peak of #coronavirus & these new hospitals will help to protect it in the future.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Duncan Summerton has been elected as the next President of @UkFssa. He will be taking up the post on the 9th October.
@UkFssa sees this as a major problem and suggested the #RoyalCollegesOfSurgery look at the issues in units and perhaps use their #IRM mechanisms to help units that are struggling, providing advice about best practice. With another wave coming, this is essential.
