Israel has murdered 3 TIMES MORE Lebanese civilians in the past few weeks than Israelis killed on Oct 7th. And A HUNDRED times more kids. Just in Lebanon. A deranged state armed and funded by the west. Terrifying evil.

Israel dropped a bomb on Mona’s home in Mansouri, South Lebanon, today. Mona is not a fighter. She is an environmental activist who dedicated her life to protecting endangered sea turtles. Because of Israel, Mona is now fighting for her life in a hospital bed.

Kellie is the second diver killed by boaters in South Florida within a month. She was part of our local dive community. She was experienced. We know she would have had a flag. They killed her and fled the scene. vessel exclusion zones everywhere Justice for Kellie 💔

I really don't think enough people fully comprehend the worlds that are about to collide here. You already have people in geopolitical circles warning about the threat of famine based on surging prices / availability of fertilizer components, and you also have long-term weather modeling all converging on a worst case scenario for a building El Nino event, which will peak near the end of the year. These are two slow moving but entirely predictable disasters that when coupled together will each make the other orders of magnitude worse. (This will take months to fully unfold, but at this point, the die is cast.) There's no event in our history books that combines the current global population with the impending fertilizer shortage and the strength of the El Nino that's coming. We are about to witness an unprecedented event that will push crops around the globe to their limit.
Famine is coming

Compelling essay by sci-fi writer Ted Chiang on why LLMs are nowhere near consciousness, but why it serves the interests of LLM companies to constantly suggest that they might be. I've pulled one quote below, but the whole article is worth reading.

In 2019, @animaloutlook uncovered horrible abuse at a salmon hatchery in Maine. The company said sorry & promised reforms (which satisfied Maine officials). Animal Outlook returned in 2025 and found even worse abuse. This has happened over & over again w/the biggest meat co's.

As an ecologist, I think this is cool. We’ve lost so many native insects, yet this one has returned against all odds. Look at them pollinate! Human infections are extremely rare. South America is fine. It’s the meat industry that wants them extinct. Don’t buy into the hysteria.

Factory farming is a hotbed for diseases. Researchers just found that a virus common in farmed shrimp can cause eye infections and blindness in humans. Raising billions of animals in crowded, polluted conditions causes spillover and makes us sick foodprint.org/blog/a-new-stu…

Exxon’s predictions were dead-on, btw. A rational society would have completely reversed course ~50 years ago. We could have saved so much. Instead they spent millions spreading lies that this science was fake. This is what happens when energy is made into a profit venture.

This is page 28, of an 1982 Exxon scientists report on what CO2 would do to global temps should it increase to todays levels web.archive.org/web/20160204… They knew it would increase temps rapidly. They buried this paper and spent hundreds of millions spreading misinfo to sow doubt.

Im watching a video about how we studied consciousness wrong in fish w/ the mirror test and it reminded me of how anthrocentric all of our research is and how much it tries to avoid that we ourselves experience the world as an animal, because its afraid to lose our 'superiority'

I think we need to dispel the idea of ‘misinformation’. It creates a notion that people have been fooled. That’s not what happened at all. They saw the truth and they did not like it, so they sought talking points to discredit the facts. It’s not misinformation. It’s propaganda.

On May 29, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed. SOUTHCOM is unwavering in its commitment to applying total systemic friction on the cartels. @DeptofWar #OpSouthernSpear

I know no one posts personal stuff on here anymore but this week we had to say goodbye to Alvin and I want to celebrate him. He was found eating trash in an alley with rotted out teeth and no hair. The vet estimated he was 12. He lived six more years with us. Goodbye, my son.

The imperial core has gained $15 trillion through exorbitant privilege since 1970, getting higher returns on foreign assets than what they pay on foreign debt. This privilege is financed by transfers from the global South, outstripping aid flows many times over.
