I think it would be great to start a new thread of constrained urban infill sites in the UK so I will start one now to highlight where every opportunity to deliver new homes can be taken.

How have we got to a situation where the building around stations means that should only be 150 homes here and still be objected to. It's an embarrassment. The whole of this side of the tracks should be effectively be a new town which is much denser and taller than the other side

Why does the area surrounding a CENTRAL LINE STATION look like the rural countryside???? I want towers with 10 floors surrounding that station on all sides
The 150 homes they're opposing will be literally next door to the tube station. This is the perfect location for desperately needed new homes.

We need the work of RCKA architects not to just be considered by the London Plan bit to become part and parcel of the design guidance for cities and towns.
There is almost nothing on infill or small sites in all of the revised guidance currently being consulted upon nationally.

I don't agree fully. LPAs can decide to allocate more small sites however this is unusual and generally more work and more objections for them.
We need to see more diversity in who is delivering housing though for sure.
In our second evidence session, Phineas Harper, an independent writer and critic, stated that innovative and experimental architectural design is being stifled by a lack of competition within the private sector, which is dominated by a small number of large companies.

Itโs madness.
Trashing nature for short-term โgrowthโ wrecks our future and itโs deeply unpopular.
Polling shows the Government is totally at odds with the public on this.

It's a real shame that for all the rhetoric @UKLabour has been so slow to make any meaningful changes to the system.
I beleive that part of the problem may well be the civil servants being computer says no or simply have no idea of what is needed to make the changes required

I was told yesterday that it maybe announced that level 7 apprenticeships will be scrapped. @AngelaRayner is against this and I am too. We already have a housing crisis and removing opportunities particularly for built environment education and qualifications is bonkers.

There are accountancy firms and the like gaming the system but with the built environment we need to ensure that we have doors open to anyone wishing to work in this sector and the apprenticeship scheme is a massive boost to social mobility and diversity of candidates.

Very happy to say I am promoting a 4.8 acre site that is essentially the most sustainably located green field site in Colchester City.
I can't help but think as someone who works primarily on small sites though how skewed our system is towards large sites.

Major site? Free submission via local plan and assessment of essentially all aspects of the sites suitability.
Minor site - pay for pre app and application before you have the principle agreed to a place where you could actually ensure viability in the widest sense.
