One of the things I had been hoping to examine is how statements were elevated when those had bridging power. Together with its power of clustering the groups, I hope to see how major statements or other statements got closer and closer, leaving polarized, less popular ones aside

like, the algo behind CN (@UsePolis) gets used for far more impactful things than social media checking, such as Taiwanese govt public petitions. it's a very robust system!

yes govtech along the lines of Community Notes & Polis is precisely what we need more of. LLMs can help quite a bit, as we show in the paper, though we need much more experimentation in settings where real important collective decisions are being made.

This is really neat: Community Notes work because they estimate users' political preferences and upweight notes that are liked by users of all stripes.
I wonder if other parts of our democracy could be improved with mechanisms like this.

What does it mean for AI development to be more democratic? To find out, we partnered with @collect_intel to use @usepolis to curate an AI constitution based on the opinions of ~1000 Americans. Then we trained a model against it using Constitutional AI.
