New rules! Utah has issued its reformed rules for legal services and the order that will set up a sandbox for legal service experiments. Public comment, from lawyers and "nons" alike, is most welcome. sandbox.utcourts.gov/ #A2J #innovation #closethegap

Hey @elipariser, on behalf of boomers, its damn irresponsible to suggest boomers are the only ones who need to deal with this PANDEMIC. cnn.com/2020/03/13/opinions/… You know young people can carry and spread the virus right?

Yes and absent strong advocacy for/from the consumers of legal services, and those who would if they could afford it, we might never, ever get past the protectionists. #accesstojustice #legaltech

I'll beat this drum forever: Lawyers alone can't solve the challenges we face in the profession. Legal academics alone can't solve the challenges we face in legal education. Absent cognitive diversity and silo-busting, we will never, ever get there. #makelawbetter

Agreed. It’s those lawyers, of which I am one, who have the most responsibility to make the system work for all.
Nothing like a law partner who bills at over $500 an hour & works for well heeled clients making sure those who can’t get/afford legal representation are protected. This Is Madness': Big Law Weighs In on California Nonlawyer Proposal | The American Lawyer buff.ly/2mqrSlW
Here's at least one firm from Big Law who sees a path forward. These innovations probably won't help someone facing eviction without legal representation, but they show the breadth of possibilities. #innovate #legaltech

Good on the solos & smalls who see opportunity rather than threat, because the real change is happening in the market. The only question is when the regulations will either catch up to the market or become irrelevant.
Here are MyShingle #ATILS comments. Not all solos & smalls oppose change. Some see opportunity

No doubt! Hence, my encouragement to lawyers to rethink their business models. x.com/rightbrainlaw/status/9…

I’d add, looking at the research & noting coast as a big reason people don’t hire lawyers, *hypothetically,* if someone offered a low cost, flat-fee service that had no evidence of consumer harm and a positive reception from both lawyers & consumers, isn’t that worth considering?

This new market study of client attitudes shows that @lawyers need to seriously reevaluate their business model. parsonsbehle.com/images/pdfs… #legalmarketing #innovation

I'm sorry but well over half of the Utah bar is better qualified to be on the federal bench than this fellow. Judicial nominee struggles to answer basic legal questions at hearing @CNNPolitics cnn.it/2kxDIG7

Why do the vast majority of #lawyers not post their price? Wouldn’t consumers be more likely to use lawyers if they knew the cost in advance?
