NSF reviewer honorarium is down to $200/day!?!?! If you spend 1 hr/proposal reading, and 2 six hour panel days, thats ~$9/hour. Pretty shameful on the part of NSF.

I was this many computer user years old when I learned that I can combine PDFs using Finder!!! Especially handy when Acrobat doesn't like something and won't do it.

Just starting to plan a 1/2 semester "Algorithmic Bias & Data Ethics" course. There's loads of great material but I'm obviously limited in what I can include in 8 weeks. What are your top 3 picks for "must have" material?

Non-teachers don't understand that prep for each class session is the process of writing a script for a play, with build up and resolution, visuals, audience participation, no 4th wall. This is why it takes TIME.

It's an honor to be part of the work that these two lead. CS colleagues -- if you haven't done the 3C Fellows program yet, what are you waiting for? And check out the AiiCE resources.

As if it wasn't already bad enough that in the US there are more guns than people, but now there are bullet vending machines. In grocery stores! And they trust AI & facial recognition to be sure buyers are of legal age. Is there no end to this madness???

A chance to talk about work I’ve been doing for a very long time. An opportunity to explain why this data analysis approach is critical for understanding exactly who is and is not coming into computing.
Co-author @VBarr4 (@BardCollege) discusses "Visualizing Progress in Broadening Participation in Computing: The Value of Context"(bit.ly/3VMbMjC), and describes new ways of analyzing degree data in an original video. bit.ly/4brSaqO

Time to rethink how you look at degree data! Thanks to @CarlaBrodley and @mapq for the wonderful collaboration!!
"Visualizing Progress in Broadening Participation in Computing: The Value of Context," by @VBarr4 (@BardCollege), @CarlaBrodley (@KhouryCollege), @MAPQ (@UNCCharlotte), calls for better measures of CS degree data to account for changing demographics. bit.ly/3VMbMjC
