NSF reviewer honorarium is down to $200/day!?!?! If you spend 1 hr/proposal reading, and 2 six hour panel days, thats ~$9/hour. Pretty shameful on the part of NSF.
I was this many computer user years old when I learned that I can combine PDFs using Finder!!! Especially handy when Acrobat doesn't like something and won't do it.
Just starting to plan a 1/2 semester "Algorithmic Bias & Data Ethics" course. There's loads of great material but I'm obviously limited in what I can include in 8 weeks. What are your top 3 picks for "must have" material?
Non-teachers don't understand that prep for each class session is the process of writing a script for a play, with build up and resolution, visuals, audience participation, no 4th wall. This is why it takes TIME.

As if it wasn't already bad enough that in the US there are more guns than people, but now there are bullet vending machines. In grocery stores! And they trust AI & facial recognition to be sure buyers are of legal age. Is there no end to this madness???
