The Doors performed at Steve Paul’s Scene in New York City, with Jimi Hendrix attending the show. This was a relatively intimate club gig during a very busy year for both acts. Hendrix, whose star was rising rapidly after Monterey Pop, was known to drop in on other artists’ shows in New York. The Doors were promoting their self-titled debut album, which had been released just a couple of months earlier.
