This will be a blizzard people speak of for generations and probably inspire a whole new set of young meteorologists!

Very chilly morning here in the Meadow 🥶 So far this is the lowest temp of 2026! We might get colder Friday morning. Fun fact; 2023 was the coldest in the last five years here with a low of -23°F on Feb 4th.

Storm total up to 16” now. Still snowing steadily with beautiful big fat flakes. Temps are in the upper teens. Literal snow-globe energy outside right now. ✨☃️ #VTwx

Y’all acting like it’s over up here or never materialized… this was never a quick big dump but a long pile up.
How does another 20 hours of snow sound?

Measuring 7” of the driest snow ever as of 8pm. This snow is the consistency of sand — no snowmen to be found. ☃️ Hartland #Vermont @NWSBurlington #VTwx

Storm update - snow is beginning in Hartland Vermont. The dry air didn’t inhibit the snow development at the front end of the system very much. 1° air temperature currently.

This map is going to fill up even more in NE soon ❄️❄️🫡
The pattern is full! Too many HAZARDS to count. There will be more added to this map and watches will become warnings over the next 24 hours.

You know this forecast/storm means business when there’s recon to actually get better forecasting data. — excited to see what this shows
Currently there is a recon mission near the Baja low. This should narrow down some model uncertainty. There could large jumps in modeling Recon missions collect atmospheric data. Primarily used in hurricanes because lack of air balloon launches in oceans

Snow squalls are no joke. Look at this wind and visibility this afternoon! Can you imagine driving in this? It’s poor timing for school busses (I’m waiting for my own kiddos 🚌) This was just south and east of the warning area @NWSBurlington

Clouds rolled in thick for tonight’s epic #aurora event in #Vermont. Though the glimpses we did get through the clouds were still pretty amazing. ☁️✨☁️ @TylerJankoski @Eweather13 @spann @JessWCAX #SpaceWeather #VTwx #solarstorm @NWSBurlington @ericfisher @ContentWxGuy

Yup… street flooding in the typical places downtown #oceancitymd. Really reminds you that most of this area is only 1-2 feet above sea level 😅

Well, the inlet is flooding now. 😬🌊 The tide is still coming in. Well timed dinner reservations at the Harbor Watch means I’ll get to watch it from above! @weatherchannel @WeatherNation @wboc @Eweather13 #HurricaneErin2025 #HurricaneErin

I love this. Just good ‘ol fashion meteorology
And there goes Erin fading away into the North Atlantic. It never made it to category 6. It didn’t suddenly veer left into Florida. It wasn’t created by HAARP. It wasn’t directed into the Carolinas by laser beams from radars. It wasn’t seeded for sinister purposes. It’s not going to slam the Northeast to make way for minute cities. It even ignored a lot of “feelings” about what it was going to do and had the nerve to make the TikTok “experts” look even more ridiculous. It’s just a hurricane doing what hurricanes do in the peak of hurricane season. In the end, good old fashioned meteorology worked like charm…again.

Erin is still raging — who doesn’t love getting sand blasted to check out the surf at Assateague Island? 🌊 No flooding. Lots of ponies are along the roadside today taking cover from the wind/blowing sand. #HurricaneErin @AssateagueNPS @wboc @weatherchannel @WeatherNation

Some MASSIVE surf right now in Ocean City Maryland. Very lucky this is an off shore cat 2 hurricane. Minimal impacts other than beach erosion and marshland flooding right now. #HurricaneErin @weatherchannel @WeatherNation @Eweather13 @wboc #MDwx

Watch the eye wall. The easterly shift #Erin has begun. Outter bands are reaching the Delmarva.

Replying to @RyanWeather
The inner-core of Hurricane Erin is impressive this evening. Dry air can't break through the eyewall -- and wind shear doesn't appear to be an issue. Almost a major hurricane (95-knots) for maximum winds but impacts are felt well away from the center.
