Proponents of mass immigration often justify it on economic grounds: cheap foreign labor is needed to fill the jobs Americans supposedly won’t do. Yet this argument ignores how rapidly advancing technology and automation are making many of those low-skill roles obsolete.
I don’t advocate for AI replacing people’s jobs entirely, I’m deeply apprehensive about it. But the reality is automation is already reshaping the labor market. That makes the old economic case for mass immigration increasingly untenable and null.
