Every year in Metro Vancouver, car crashes kill 100 people. We could get to zero if governments designed transportation systems to put safety first.

Granville Street is so alive and vibrant right now, and a perfect example of how much life and joy a pedestrianized street can bring to a city. We should have pedestrian streets all the time in Vancouver, not just for the World Cup. For now, go enjoy it because it's great!

Self-proclaimed "public safety champion" @sarahkirby_yung questions why we need to reduce speeds on arterials where 93% of fatalities occur, if we've already reduced speeds on a few residential streets and traffic fatalities still happened. youtu.be/ItxcWjCOJY8

And before Clr Kirby-Yung comes on to tell us that she was simply asking to "educate the public", please note that during the same meeting she then went on to vote against reducing speeds on arterials, implicitly accepting that she's fine with these fatalities.

Respectfully councilor we posted the full video, people can judge for themselves. In the same meeting you also voted to gut the "safe speeds" section of the VZ Action Plan despite hearing from staff that it would "without a doubt" save lives, and not increase commute times.
This is complete mischaracterization @VisionZeroYVR. It’s my job to bring forward question we get from the public to help people understand the benefits and why bus expediting is so important. This kind of divisive posting divides and alienates people vs bringing them together.

We point this out b/c your next Q after this video was "why should we lower speeds if we've already done so on collectors and we still have traffic deaths?" Then you voted against lower speeds. So you see where we get the impression that your Qs are not just for "education."

Self proclaimed "transit advocate" councilor @sarahkirby_yung questioning staff on why Vancouver needs bus lanes if they only save each commuter a few minutes per trip... Yikes 😬 youtu.be/WYyydasP9oE?si=yvjh…

FICTION: @PeterMeiszner claimed the Vision Zero plan would lower the speed on "streets like Boundary Rd, Clark, Knight St." FACT: The report clearly references streets with "high pedestrian activity" and "busy shopping streets." Did Peter even read the report before gutting it?

So this is a lie. ABC is refusing to listen to the data about traffic fatalities because they think it will help them get re-elected.
Yesterday, ABC voted to keep Vancouver moving. While the non-ABC parties on Council wanted to lower speed limits on major arterial roads to 30 km/h and 40 km/h, ABC chose to stand with commuters and residents. Speed limits must be driven by common sense, not ideology. Let's keep Vancouver moving forward.

WRONG and very dishonest. The plan was to reduce speeds on *select* commercial arterials with high pedestrian volume and crash history. Think streets like Denman, Main, Commercial Drive. This is where 93% of fatalities occur. ABC chose speed over human life. #publicsafety

Hi @LennyNanZhou @PeterMeiszner @LisaDominato why is your party lying about what was in the plan? Why did you choose driver convenience over human life? Traffic engineers stood before you at council and told you this plan would save lives and you ignored them.

ABC councilors either didn't read the report or they're lying about it, and we're not sure what's worse.

On Tuesday June 2, council will vote on the new Vision Zero Safe Mobility Plan. This plan is GREAT. But we don't know if it will pass and we need your help! Please take a minute to email council & sign up to speak if you're able: visionzerovancouver.ca/2026/…

Please name all the separated bike lanes we have outside of downtown Joyce, with a special focus on east-west ones near 4th Ave.
Good thing we have so many separated, bike lanes. @CityofVancouver

Are cars getting too big? Is there any reason for it? We crashed the Vancouver Auto Show to try and talk to some automotive reps and find out first hand! youtube.com/watch?v=BJp37YFQ…

The six blocks of E Hastings St between Abbot and Carrall is the most dangerous area for pedestrians in all of BC. Fifteen years ago the city reduced the speed limit, but on the ground not much has changed. It's time for a major redesign: visionzerovancouver.ca/2026/…

In 2023 @christineeboyle had a motion to lower the speed on Cornwall to 30km/h. @MikeKlassen amended it to 40km/h, under the guise of an umbrella of safety improvements which he bragged about. Now, council is recommending no further action. All we got was a deadlier speed.

A person caught excessively speeding and facing basically zero consequences kept speeding? "Go figure" indeed! (And why is 90 in a 50 not excessive??) This is what we mean when we say road violence is predictable and preventable.
Here's one you don't see often...this driver stopped on Knight Street at 7:36 a.m. doing 90 in a 50 zone. Not enough for excessive speed, so ticketed and allowed to continue to child's sport activity. But, 12 mins later, stopped again for doing 81 on Terminal Ave. by different Enforcement member. Go figure! #WeAreOutThere #SpeedMaims
