For every retweet, Visual Snow UK will donate £1* to a Visual Snow charity. #VisualSnowSyndrome is in desperate need of funding to continue research into this devastating debilitating condition.

🚨 CLARIFICATION 🚨 This excellent #VisualSnow research is the work of Cassandra Brooks, a PhD student at the University of Melbourne. Although the study had support from the Monash team, it is substantively the work of Cassie Brookes at Melbourne. Apologies to those involved!
Researchers from Monash University have developed a method for quantifying the appearance of Visual Snow in each patient. For example: the speed, spacing and size of each static pixel. This is a necessary step in #VisualSnowSyndrome.

Stratifying patients can be important in clinical trials. Dependent on the trial, researchers want to make sure they're keeping variables as fixed as possible in control groups and patient groups - including the severity of the disease.

This quantification method could also give researchers a clue in the driving mechanism behind Visual Snow. For example: patients with more spread out Visual Snow could have a greater detectable brain difference than those with finer Visual Snow.

A new promising clinical treatment trial will be starting in Autumn 2022 at the University of Bern. With the use of transcranial electrical stimulation, the research team intends to modulate the salience network to treat the symptoms of #VisualSnowSyndrome.

This treatment trial is led by Prof. Dr. Med. Christoph Schankin and Dr. Antiona Klein, M.D. Dr. Schankin was one of the doctors who kickstarted the research into Visual Snow Syndrome and he has been researching the condition for over 10 years. He knows what he is doing.

However, the treatment trial needs more funding. This is where you can make the difference. Donate now at EyeOnVision.org so the treatment trial can conclude and publish results. This could be the beginning of the end for Visual Snow Syndrome. Make a difference now.

With a huge thanks to the @EyeOnVision Foundation, research can continue at Monash University. Their research groups have been pioneers of Visual Snow research for years with the discovery of the ocular-motor signature. This is a big step forward for #VisualSnowSyndrome.

Unfortunately, there is no medically proven treatment for #VisualSnow. Please be careful to who you give your money to in these tough economic times.

Some excellent research and insights from the Monash University team. We'll do a write-up soon on this research of #VisualSnowSyndrome.
NEW PUBLICATION - Using 7 Tesla MRI for studying brain structure in patients with #VisualSnowSyndrome #VSS @MyrteStrik @Scott_Kolbe from the Fielding/White group @MonashCCS @Alfred_Research #neuroscience check it out 👇 doi.org/10.1093/braincomms/f…
🚨 NEW RESEARCH 🚨 A new study has suggested the prevalence of Visual Snow Syndrome (#VSS) is 5.2% of the population. This is equivalent to 1 in 19 people with #VisualSnowSyndrome.

However, another study in 2022 showed the prevalence of #VisualSnow Syndrome to be 2.2% of the United Kingdom population. We'd like to thank @amyct_ for performing this research. It's always a pleasure to hear that Visual Snow suffers are not as alone as often feared.

A big concern that people have with #VisualSnow is that their doctor will misunderstand their condition and blanket ban them from driving. The current opinion of the DVLA is that Visual Snow is not a reason to stop driving unless you or your doctor feel it is unsafe.
