A message from TakingITGlobal's Executive Director, Jennifer Corriero:
"TakingITGlobal has supported Vote16 since it first emerged as a concept in 2009. And the reason is simple: expanding voting rights strengthens an inclusive democracy.
Expanding voting rights to include 16 and 17 year old citizens isn't about partisanship. It’s about participation within an inclusive democracy. It’s about recognizing that young people are already engaged in their communities, already affected by policies, and already capable of forming informed opinions. Giving citizens the right to vote starting at the age of 16 will bring them into the democratic process at an earlier stage in life, supporting the likelihood of lifelong civic participation.
We encourage you to check it out the resources at
vote16.ca to learn more about Bill S-222, and most importantly, share your voice with Senators to help this move forward in our lifetime!"
