Last night, the Republican majority North Carolina Legislature dropped a massive 36-page omnibus bill which has several critical changes to North Carolina elections.
Changes to North Carolina Election Laws include:
👏🏼State and county board members are prohibited from any public statement "encouraging or promoting voter turnout in any election"
👏🏼Provides the North Carolina State Auditor discretion to audit all machines, county offices and personnel involved in any election
👏🏼Total ban on any ranked-choice voting in any primary or general election statewide
👏🏼Removes some overseas residents that have no residency ties to North Carolina of their eligibility to vote in any state elections
👏🏼Changes up to 25 professional staff at the State Board of Elections from career civil staff to political appointees
👏🏼Completely bans paid petition and voter registration gathering
NEW: The Arizona Senate voted a few minutes ago on party lines to pass an amended version of HCR2001, a ballot measure that would require all voters, even those who vote by mail, to provide ID.
This still needs a vote in the House to make it onto the ballot. Stay tuned!
...As the Supreme Court readies its decision in Watson v. Republican National Committee (on whether to require votes by "election day" in federal elections), the dysfunctional system in California is not helping those who want states to have the final say on such deadlines.

At its core, this case is about Democrats (particularly Hillary Clinton’s shady lawyer @marceelias ) pushing for noncitizens to be registered to vote through the BMV.
Ohio law does not permit that. They know it, yet they continue to challenge safeguards designed to prevent it.
I'm grateful that @TheJusticeDept and others are helping fight to uphold Ohio’s commonsense election laws, which prevent individuals from registering to vote when they have indicated to the BMV that they are not U.S. citizens.
NEW: The DOJ is asking a federal court to let it defend an Ohio law that pro-voting groups warn could prevent eligible citizens from casting ballots. The law requires documentary proof of citizenship upon registration.
It marks the department's latest attempt to support voter suppression efforts. democracydocket.com/news-ale…
Casting a ballot is always worth celebrating! In honor of America’s 250th birthday, I'm proud to introduce a special-edition America 250 “I Voted” sticker for the 2026 election cycle.

We are witnessing another tectonic shift: the center of gravity is moving from the Persian Gulf back to the Americas. I have a thread below about how this matters for understanding the current crisis in the Gulf

Trust in elections depends on transparency and accountability. USPS's proposed ballot tracking and security standards aim to strengthen chain of custody, improve delivery visibility, and help ensure every lawful vote is counted on time. washingtontimes.com/news/202…
“It is not hard for states to coordinate with USPS to develop uniformity standards for their counties, reducing errors and mitigating risk to voters,” argues Don Palmer @VotingGuy
