How are Packet Radio/Digital being planned in your area? Here's what the subband plan looks like here in Western Washington. Winlink AFSK packet and VARA-FM don't play well together. Why? With 10 radio frequencies dedicated to packet radio, we should be able to put together a 7 to 1 re-use plan for VARA-FM and a 3 to 1 reuse plan for 9600 baud packet. And legacy 1200 baud packet (APRS) on 144.390 MHz can remain right in the middle of the "new" 2m satellite band that has never been used in over 35 years. FM does have a capture effect that can help VARA-FM re-use frequencies. Why can't the @arrl finally "plan" legacy packet at 144.390 MHz? @grok
