At Geneva Peace Forum Meets Vienna (GPF Meets Vienna), WILPF joined OSCE & PEACEWOMEN across the Globe in a roundtable on women’s inclusion in peace processes. WILPF members Heidi Meinzolt, Rosa Logar & Luisa Dietrich highlighted a key issue: inclusion is still too often symbolic, while power remains unchanged. #WILPF #FeministPeace #PeaceProcess #WomenPeaceSecurity #GPFMeetsVienna #Peacebuilding #NoWar #InclusivePeace

Today in Madrid, at the 5th Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP5), WILPF’s message was clear: feminist foreign policy must address the global increase of the military budget and #MoveTheMoney to peace, justice, and human security. The Secretary-General Amrita Kapur and WILPF members and partners called for a feminist foreign policy that walks the talk: budgets that reflect our values and care for life. #FeministForeignPolicy #FFP5 #MoveTheMoney #PazFeminista #ClimateJustice #WomenPeaceSecurity

For 11 years in a row, military spending has broken records. In 2025 alone, governments spent $2.88 trillion dollars on militaries, while funding for Sustainable Development Goals is falling short by $4 trillion dollars. War increases poverty, destroys infrastructure, pollutes ecosystems, and fuels the very instability it claims to prevent. War isn't inevitable. It's a political choice. Governments can redirect funds from militarism to peace, care, and justice. We say: Move the money from weapons to well-being, from militarism to care. 👇 Learn more and join us building peace: wilpf.org/move-the-money/ #MoveTheMoney #FeministPeace #EndWar #SDGs #WILPF

Our May story reminds us that building peace means more than ending wars, it means confronting the systems that fuel them and lifting the voices of those who resist. The May chapter of WILPF’s Stories of Feminist Peace 2025 underlined the importance of taking down oppressive structures by highlighting the voices of local changemakers. Women in conflict zones from Palestine to Afghanistan are speaking out about the oppressive structures fuelling violence.  Through WILPF, they brought their knowledge and advocacy to international decision-making spaces. Dismantling oppressive structures starts with individuals at the local level. 📖 Read the May story and explore our calendar on wilpf.org/stories-2025/ 💛 If you believe in feminist peace in action, consider supporting our work. #StoriesofFeministPeace #MayStory #FeministPeace #WILPF

We often hear: “there is no correlation between military spending and lack of investments in social well-being", but this is a myth. Like other spending, the defence budget is a political choice, subject to governments’ own priorities. Even if it seems a logical consequence that creating extra budget through loans would shield other spending, the reality that we witness today tells a different story : the highest ever recorded global military expenditure ($2.88 trillion, according to @SIPRIorg) and in parallel, unprecedented financial cuts of multilateral organizations precisely created to maintain international peace through peaceful means. But have you ever wondered where this money actually comes from? Public funds: taxes paid today, or debt repaid by taxpayers tomorrow. Either way, it is people who ultimately pay the bill. The same people who depend on public health systems, affordable housing, and quality education are indirectly financing a system that weakens their own security, well-being, and fundamental rights. It can’t be clearer which priorities our governments have chosen. It’s time to fund peace instead of war. A new report from the @WILPF and Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative makes the case that reducing military expenditure is one of the most significant (and most politically avoided) levers available to finance a just global transition away from fossil fuels. 🔗Read “Double Dividend: How Reducing Military Spending Can Finance a Just Transition” at fossilfueltreaty.org/double-…

Today at #WomenDeliver, WILPF is hosting a session you shouldn’t miss: “Rebuilding Solidarity: Feminist Movements and the Funding Crisis in SWANA” 📅 Thursday, 30 April 🕐 1:30 – 2:30 PM at the Resourcing Hub hosted by Alliance for Feminist Movements 📍 Resourcing Hub Across the #SWANA region, feminist movements are under pressure, funding is shifting, restrictions are increasing, and space for political work is shrinking. In Lebanon and Palestine, feminist and community-led initiatives are too often left to face a breakdown of trust and resources from donors and allies. Let’s talk about what this means in practice and what real solidarity looks like in response. If you’re at #WomenDeliver2026 join us in person. #WD2026 #FeministSolidarity #RebuildingSolidarity #WD2026 #WILPF @WomenDeliver

For 111 years, WILPF has chosen feminist peace over war economies, peacebuilding over militarism, and collective care over violence. While governments funnel trillions into armament products, we demand investment in what truly keeps us safe: social welfare, gender justice, sustainable development and ecological regeneration. War is a choice. So is peace. Join us building it: wilpf.org/move-the-money #MoveTheMoney #WILPF111 #SocialJustice #Peace #Peacebuilding #Demilitarisation

Next week at #WomenDeliver, WILPF’s Secretary-General Dr Amrita Kapurwill be speaking at the plenary “Building Economies that Deliver: Care, Public Services, and Shared Prosperity” Across regions, governments continue to expand military budgets while reducing investment in public services, social protection, and care systems. These are not neutral trends—they reflect political choices about what gets funded, and what gets deprioritised. As health, education, and care systems are weakened, women and girls continue to carry the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work. At the #WomenDeliver Plenary Discussion we will connect these global dynamics to urgent questions of economic justice and political choice. Our Secretary General Dr. Amrita Kapur will share WILPF’s experience advocating for human rights and feminist futures in this constrained political and funding landscape, including through our Move the Money campaign, which calls for shifting resources away from militarisation and towards care, peace, and social justice: wilpf.org/move-the-money Join the plenary and be part of the conversation on rethinking economic choices and investing in the systems that sustain our lives. #EarthDay: It's not you. It's the system 🌍 As ecological crises compound, we’re told to recycle more, waste less, do better… but what if the bigger problem isn’t individual action? What if the main drivers of ecological destruction are the ones least held accountable? In this reflection piece by WILPF's Environment Working Group, we unpack why it’s time to stop only treating the symptoms and start fixing the system. 👉 Read more & rethink what real #climateaction looks like: wilpf.org/earth-day-2026-fix… #EarthDay2026 #ClimateJustice #SystemChangeNotClimateChange #ActOnClimate

In one week, governments and a diverse global civil society movement will gather in Santa Marta to confront a question climate negotiations have long avoided: fossil fuel production. This conference aims to advance efforts toward a global phase-out of coal, oil and gas — addressing the climate crisis at its source. What happens here could shape the future of global climate action. @fossiltreaty
