The most problematic plot aspect of any rogue tv character show.
"Quincy, I realize you've improbably solved 53 murders in a row over my very strong objections to your methods but I’m telling you THIS TIME you've finally gone too far!"

In Russia, the arc of the moral universe is long but bends toward a dystopian nightmare.
Russia is considering lowering the country’s working age to 12 and reopening Soviet summer labor camps to replace workers lost to the war in Ukraine. Moscow’s child labor commissioner argued that “the return of labour camps is a realistic scenario that our children will support”

It is legitimately a tragedy that the 250th anniversary of this country's birth will be presided over by a president who is EVERYTHING the founders warned us against -- a partisan demagogue who fundamentally loathes the separation of powers and denies election results he dislikes

Today is the last bell in Ukrainian schools. According to custom, girls who finish school dance a waltz behind their parents. Those whose parents were killed by Russia dance in their parents' jackets by themselves. This is just one school and how many of them...

Also a great choice.
Lupita Nyong'o is not the first Black woman to portray Helen of Troy. The first was Eartha Kitt, personally chosen by Orson Welles, in a play performed in Paris in 1950.

Sending my son to a not-so-cheap private university on my GI Bill and I’m damn proud of his accomplishments there.
The GOP is attacking me for using GI Bill benefits I earned by serving in wars Susan Collins voted to send me to. Disgusting yet unsurprising. You want to know how I paid for college? With 4 tours in the infantry. Susan Collins needs to condemn these vile attacks on my service.

Léa Seydoux on why she started acting: “I’m going to tell you something very intimate,” she tells Variety’s @DPD_ in this week’s cover story. “The reason why I do this job ... I never really wanted to become an actress, but I wanted to exist. The only way I found to exist was to have my image printed on a film and have the proof of my existence.” Read the full cover story: wp.me/pc8uak-1lHhhG

This is what defines a professional military—not bullshit about “lethality” or “meat eaters” or jerking off to kill cams, but some unnamed enlisted person who day after day made sure the ejection seat they were responsible for met the standard so that when it mattered, it worked.

I understand the sentiment as it could be quite obnoxious. However, I’ve done it. FT’d with an old Army buddy while sitting at an outdoor cafe in Germany we used to frequent. No one near me so I believe it was harmless.
I have tweeted this so many times but I truly do NOT understand the people who FaceTime in public, like in a cafe, and those who just seem to think that's totally normal.

The Cold War was a unique time. It was technically peacetime but even the normal workdays reflected the deadly seriousness of the situation. Sure, go get that beer at the pub, but not until your equipment is ready to roll.
Air Refueling Tankers in the Cold War had a similar mission: TOAD (Take Off And Die). In the event of a nuclear war, the tankers were to scramble & offload as much of their gas to the B-52s as possible. Which wouldn’t leave enough for them to get to a runway. It was expected they would ditch the jets, most likely dying in the process. Not that there would likely be any bases to go back to anyway.

Aptly put.
Boy, it's hard to be optimistic about the trajectory of American politics. The Republican Party is a slavishly devotional personality cult around an unfathomably awful man. The Democrats have a pincer of a sclerotic establishment vs. a policy illiterate progressive base.
